Thread pitch on Hornady Overall Length Gauge

I have the tap for the Overall Length Gage in my shop - I will rummage through the reloading stuff later today and post it for you if it is not done by others before 5 or 6 pm today.

One suggestion is to ream out in a drill press or lathe as a hand drill will often give an offset hole- did for me and cost me a 338 LM case-

I make all the modified cases for the overall length gauge from 17 Rem to 50 BMG. The 5/16 X 36 tap and common 9/32" drill will work I used a K (similar on the small side ok for brass ) or L or 7.3 mm drill. Brass is soft compared to HS tool steel, a good sharp tap will do the job. Check Midway or Brownells.

I have made all of my modified cases for this gage. Brass is soft relative to HSS, but I have found the brass in the heads of some cases to be surprisingly hard, maybe work hardened, and tapping has taken some care and difficulty. And that has been holding the case in a collet in the lathe and guiding the tap with a tapping guide in the tailstock.
