.223 77gr SMK and CFE223

My daughter just graduated from Fullbore Phase 1 to Fullbore phase 2 in cadets. So her mom and I put together a rifle so she can compete with me in NSCC PR matches.

I have read some fellas getting fantastic results from CFE223 and 77gr SMKs. What are your experiences?

As you can see from the pictures the rifle is a Savage 110 elite precision in .223. She got it when she arrived home from cadet camp.

I shoot CFE 223 with 77smk but in a gas gun/AR15 match rifle for 200, 300, 600 competition. 24.0g with a 77 shoots well to 300 yards. I shoot 80’s at 600. I think you can go much higher in a bolt action. If you can fit the 80g SMK or 80.5g Berger those are great bullets for 600 yards/meters. But, they loose too much after that.
I do shoot a 223 Palma/Fullbore rifle to 1000 regularly and use the Hornady 80g ELD and it’s a fantastic bullet. With that I use H4895. It’s a 30“ barrel and I’m over 3000fps, and in a custom long (not mag length) chamber
