250-3000 Savage owners...are you out there?

A recent post about the venerable 250-3000 Savage made me think it would be nice to see some pictures from anybody out there that has a 250 or improved version there of, vintage models or ones recently built.These are my two rifles, one is a Remington model 700 classic I purchased new in 1984. It is used most every year by my son or myself. I have personally shot 20+ deer with the rifle and my son has shot 12 with it. The other one is a pre-64 model 70 circa 1949 that I bought used at a Pittsburgh area gun show in 2001. I have shot 12 deer with this rifle. Someday I would like to own a model 99 in this caliber. I have had a jag on this cartridge since I was a young boy. If there’s anybody that would like to share some stories about their 250s and pictures I would love to see them!

I have a Ruger m77 that has killed everything it looked atand never anything I remember got away. Back in the 70"s very lean on money trapped 6 coyetes and at the time worth 40.00 dollars a piece Bought rifle for 240.00 with money my first hi power rifle

My Grandpa gave this rifle to me when I was a kid. It belonged to his dad who bought it brand new. It is still a shooter! In all honesty I imagine this gun has had less than 1000 rounds run through it. It has a Weaver 2.5-7x with Weaver tip over rings and bases.

I believe it's a 1917 model year.

Both my Dad and an Uncle had rifles built after getting out of the service during WW2. Both were 250-3000. Dad's was built on a Springfield and my Uncle's on a Mauser. They reloaded together using Lyman tong tools. I still have Dad's gun and reloading stuff.

I had a custom rifle built about 38 yrs ago. Had a 26" bbl medium heavy. Chambered for 250-3000 savage made by federal cartridge company. One in 1 in 10 twist rate bbl. Ram line fiber stock. Mouser Action. Had it bedded out just in front of the action rest is free floated. Trigger set at 3.5lbs. Just plain love this rifle, probably killed 25 deer or more out to 300 yds. From the bench it shoots 3/8" 100yd groups with 37gr xbr 8408 and 75gr Vmax cci lr primer/ or tula primers they both shoot the same size groups. Using Remington Brass. It loves 120gr Sierra hp bullets with 34 gr Imr 4064 A dime every shot 100 yds, 1/10 twist is the way to go on the bbl. The rifle weighs 12lbs and has virtually no recoil. A gentle push with 120gr bullets. Hope love your build and cartridge of choice. They are fun!

i’ve got one in a savage 99 that’s in the clear back end of the gun safe. or atleast i hope it still is. haven’t seen it for a long while. my father originally bought it from an old colorado rancher that carried it in a scabbard on his horse. still have the leather scabbard too.

I have three. One 250AI on a remington action, Hart barrel.
A Ruger 77 tang safety and an early 80's Ruger 77 compact tang safety.
Cant count the deer and pigs these rifles have killed between me and my two kids growing up.

I have had 2/ea Remington Classic. 250 Savages down through the years.
I compete in CBA competition these days with a Savage Mdl 16 stainless steel Weather Warrior. It has a 36x Tasco target scope. I have done reasonably well with it down through the years in both Hunter and Production Class.
I have never run across another one of these Savages, and I often wonder how many are out there.
I also have a Ruger tang safety in .250 Savage that is in a Ramline stock. It has a 3x9 Leupold on it and has taken several deer by both grandsons as well as myself.
I would like to correspond with others who shoot cast bullets in. 250 Savage.

All i see is a stainless model seven perfectly fitted into a custom painted b&c stock that can be any medium action caliber i want in short order

Dan Hackett used to shoot score with a plain 250 Savage just for fun. When you think about it, the early 22-250 did pretty well in BR, so with a good bullet why not the parent?
