Time to start planning the fall hunt

Me, the wife and the kids had quite a run on Arizona elk and deer tags for a good number of years but this is the second year in a row where me and the wife struck out in every category in the Arizona draw. There are some good hunts over the counter, mostly archery deer and fall bear but not having a tag, again, has me making some phone calls. A good friend has been guiding and connecting on some giant Aoudad in Texas, hard hunt but rewarding, we booked that. We always Spend time in the woods varmint hunting, we have licenses for the state, the Navajo Rez, San Carlos Rez and we may get to spend sometime on the White Mountain Apache reservation this year.

I’ve been considering approaching the yearly draw different. I might start putting in for high quality hunts only here in Arizona and using outfitters more out of state and Mexico where you can plan on a tag. We would draw less here but would have yearly hunts.

Ive been coyote hunting on the san carlos 2 years ago. Was a fun time but wrong time of year due to there big game hunts. I have wanted to go on Navajo or Ft McDowell rez and try out my luck there.

I finally had some luck on out of state tags. I drew Nevada deer, Colorado cow elk, and a 4th season unit 63 Colorado deer tag. I killed a double-drop tine mulie on this hunt in Nv a few years ago. My friends who have hunted Unit 63 say a 190+ buck is very possible. Can't wait!!

What zones for NV?

I'll be western rifle for deer and elk this year. Haven't scouted yet, but likely in the Siuslaw NF.
Thanks for the reminder on the bear tag.
Covid trashed my lungs a few weeks ago, and as I found this weekend, my conditioning and stamina might be 1/8th of what they were last year. I have my work cut out for me.

Mostly waiting grouse/capercaillie hunting season, especially that which extends to winter. Last year was just a great time skiing and looking for birds. It's hard on autumn but on winter it is much more difficult due noise which you get from your skiis.
