RL 15.5 in 6 Dasher

Have a couple starting loads for 105 gr Bergers hybrids. Just wondering if there is a "go to" load with this newer powder? 28" Bartlien, Defiance action , Alpha and soon to be false shoulder formed Lapua brass....Have Berger 105 Hybrids,105 VLD target, 109 Berger Hybrid, and 103 VT production bullets....Thanks for any help....rsbhunter

Ranger188, thank you. I read that article, And came away with the feeling that is is alot like Varget , although I won't go weight for weight til I do some testing.. Hoping it is as great as it is being touted. Thanks for the help...rsbhunter

PV had it, limit of 4- 1 lb. Gets expensive to order that way, but it's done. Thought I saw 8 lb'ers on Brownells, but they were running almost $400.00. I looked into ordering RL16 in a 8 lb at one place, between price, tax, hazmat, and shipping, it would have been $500.00 !!!! I just can't justify that price..rsbhunter

Powder Valley & If I recall correctly Brownell's had 15.5 recently. Brownell's @ $50+/pound & PV at something less than $50.

Brownell's recently had RL 16 (10 days or two weeks ago) but it went fairly quickly, as usual.
I have seen more pistol powder showing lately, & remaining available for an extended period of time, at least by today's standards. My inter-web shopping has shown 50 BMG suitable propellants readily available. Don't own one so I don't know if bullets are available.

So bottom line is, as best I can determine, .... small amounts are showing up & still selling quite rapidly.

I expect this to be the order of the day for some time to come.

My local retail outlets never have more than two or three pounds on the shelf at any given time.

RL15.5. $500 for 8 lbs it has to magical...I just purchased 5 lbs of RL 15 for $169 locally...and I have a bunch of Varget and 6.5 Stabal, all work well in my dasher without $50 per pound powder...but then, I'm not going for any existing records in competition shooting.

yep, total charges to get 8# to my door $460.
Assuming a 45 grain charge that comes up to $0.39 / round, just for propellant.

Yes sir, small bore is looking better all the time. Except, I'm not proficient in that game either.

I could buy 2 pounds (maximum allowed in one purchase) & work up a hopefully stellar load then .......poof non existent.

Ah heck, there I go being negative again

Thanks for the heads up about the 6br for load data....RL15 gives me to much variance between 20° and 105° here in S.E New Mexico. Tried it didn't get the accuracy in my bbl. RL16 has been doing great, but, for the same reason I have 6 different bullet makes and weights, I have 4 or 5 powder selections. As far as the 2 lbs of RL15.5, if Powder Valley has it, they sell 4 1 lbs at a time, so it helps with the cost per pound for hazmat vs 2 lbs. Like most of us shooters, I will never shoot in a national competition, but I'm sure gonna try my hardest to shoot like I will!!!!rsbhunter

Ray123, if you can buy RL15 for $33+change, the guy who sold it to you deserves a kiss on the cheek!!!!! Buy all of it you can get, good shooting....rsbhunter
I bought the only RL15 5 pounder available, at the time, on a shelf below a fair amount of one pound containers above, which several other reloaders were handling, and looking at.... but none seemed to be interested in 5 lbs of RL15...so I bought it, checked the online price to find I got a good deal...for the times. Prices seem to be going up weekly as reloading products come in...manufacturer's & producer prices for their products & raw materials have risen 11.3%, which will be added or passed along to the already high prices reloaders pay. "Keep on shootin"...as long as ya can...American ingenuity will come into play, if necessary, and your weekly shooter may take a different form...not your normal favorite...as you peddle to the shooting range on your bicycle...
