I wouldn't hear any of them for the non stop ringing in my ears. Some have suggested I get hearing aids. I say why ? To amplify the problem ?Same here. Oscillating fans only though.
Went to bed on summer nights to the sound of Cicadas and Katydids. You would have thought they were amplified somehow. For anyone who isn't familiar with those sounds, give this a few seconds of your time and imagine sleeping to it:

95 degrees out and 58% humidity. Feels like temp is 101. Friday afternoon, 6:30 PM. A/C goes out.
Forgot how hot it can get around here without a/c.. Left home at 20 and never spent one day with air conditioning in the house. I didn't see any cool air for the next 4 years either..
On the bright side, I did find someone that will be out in the morning. Why does it always seem that whatever breaks it is always on a Friday afternoon. Another ray of sunshine is that it is not a 4 day weekend.
I seen where farmers are selling all livestock because of the drought in Texas, meat prices will go down for a bit then skyrocketYup, it's been and will continue to be a hot one here in Texas. We haven't had a decent rain in South Texas since Thanksgiving of last year and have been dancing, praying or whatever for a nice tropical depression to mosey up the Rio Grande. Wildlife, cattle and stock ponds are all suffering.

Peace and quiet has its own rewards.I knew this old timer years ago, WWII Navy vet. I think his hearing was ruined from guns on a naval ship. He had hearing aids in both ears and was always smiling. He said he always knew when people were talking in the room and barely heard them. He would smile at them, nod every now and then, and it was all good.
He said his wife would catch on from time to time and realize that when he was smiling too much in the company of others it was because he had them turned off and couldn't really hear anyone.
When life gives you lemons....
