Scope Question - New to Short-Range .22

I've got maybe a really dumb question, but figured I'd throw it out here. I paced off 10 steps the other day to start some shooting, and noticed the elevation was a tad low on my new .22. I've used this scope in the recent past on a .22-250, and it performed well, so I have no reason to think the scope is in question. All scope mounting screws torqued to manufacturer recommended values. I went to make a small adjustment, I think it was maybe 1/2". This is a "1 click = 1/4" @ 100 yards" scope. So I turned the adjustment two clicks. Fired a few rounds, but no change in impact.

Here's my question: If "1 click = 1/4" @ 100 yards", does that same click equal 1/8" at 50 yards? 1/16" at 25 yards? and so on? I didn't tinker with it much that day.

You are on the right track but keep in mind that 10 paces is about 30 ft so the two clicks you moved the scope was not enough to have a noticable effect at that distance. Unless you have a very accurate rifle it is doubtful that the point of impact would be very noticable even if the scope tracked properly.

In MOA terms, 1" @ 100 yards is roughly 1 MOA, while 1/2" @ 50 yards is 1 MOA. 4 clicks at 100 moves poi an inch, while 4 clicks at 50 yards moves poi 1/2".

Like the others have said, at 30 feet 2 clicks would get Lost in the noise, If your scope will even focus at 30 feet. You don't mention if it has AO or side focus or is fixed parallax.

And to clearly answer your question, yes, you had the numbers right for the intermediate ranges. So for 10 yards one click 10/100 of 1/4" or 1/10th of 1/4", or 1/40th of an inch. TINY.

So... here's a thing...

If you are shooting at only 10 yards or so, parallax will be the bane of your existence.

It is incredibly difficult to find a scope that has parallax that is actually down to 10 yards or less.

Worse yet, the scope spec sheet at this minimum range is not to be believed.

I have had a hell of a time finding a scope that can actually run parallax free at exactly 10 yards and god forbid... any less than that. In fact most scopes that claim to have 10 yard parallax is actually 10 meters, but they round the spec to 10 yards because USA is not metric.

Unfortunately I have found one though... While the company web site states 10 yards... Vortex Diamondback Tactical actually goes down to about 7.5 yards, which is great for close encounters of the precision variety. I say unfortunately simply because the Vortex DT is a fist class POS for glass clarity and I have dreams of one day finding something better for this distance. So far the VDT is the only thing I have found so I'm living with it.

Go to one of the air gun sites like pyramydair.com, utah air guns, or airguns of Arizona, or there are several others. They carry many good scopes that will go to 10 yards.
