ALPHA OCD BRASS

6BRA

Gold $$ Contributor
Has anyone on here had alot of experience reloading this brass? How long has OCD been around? Can OCD handle the same pressure as Lapua? Mixed articles stating reduce charge. OCD, I think states they tested to 80,000 pressure. Looking for recent hands on experience/ input.

Thanks!

I can't answer all your questions, but OCD brass in 6 Dasher will shoot right there with Lapua without having to reduce charges. One rifle shoots OCD brass with 103 bullet and 32.2 gr of H4895. The other rifle is on Lapua and shoots the same bullet at 32.1 gr of H4895, with no problems.
I had some earlier Alpha NON OCD brass that at about 31 grains of 4895 would get ejector marks and clickers.

I have ~3000 pieces of alpha brass. 1,000 of it is "ocd"

I have 500 pieces of pre-ocd brass in 308 small primer with over 50 firings on it... from an FTR gun with stout loads...

It really can't be beat. I've taken a lot of h20 and weight measurements of it vs Lapua, and the alpha is slightly better.

I think OCD started in Oct. 2020

No complaints with it in 6GT, very uniform and I'm more than happy with results on target.
Me too! I really like the GT, and I like the OCD brass.

For all practical purposes, it’s just another 6x47L, but I think it’s a little less temperamental, and head and shoulders above the creed- big surprise there.

So... how many different barrels did you run those 25,000+ rounds through? Any issues going from one chamber to another?

I wasn't super clear there- I bought a pizza box of 500 pieces. I sorted them into groups of 75 and 50. One of the 50 round boxes, I shot 2-3 times a week for years. (And some of the groups have never been fired)

They've been shot through 2 different actions and several barrels.

How much have they been annealed?

Got a 6Bra made and run it with Alpha Brass, however after the first time fired it when Full Length Size it, noticed my Forster die was shaving the neck. The chamber is a standard one, not neck down. Bought a second die same brand and it was doing exactly the same. Spoke with Robert Ruch at Forster and he will address the inner dimension of the dies. Alpha brass its an amazing brass!!! will last a good bit
