Fixing the Supply Problem

Brilliantly stated. Now tell me what you are going to do when you walk into your local gun store and they have your Federal 205M’s for $70 a brick and Varget at $33 per pound in stock, what are you going to do? Not buy it because you have enough at home? Or buy it, knowing the price is really good considering the state of the market and you can certainly use it in the future??

I’m pretty sure I know what most of us would do, likely you included.

Dave
I'd pee on the primers and run like hell with the powder, but I'm a degenerate so there's that small problem.

There's also a producer price index. Yes, prices are higher. Look at the price of copper, lead, and labor.
Copper actually dropped 25%. That's why I believe this has become and artificial, industry-invoked shortage. Like there is no longer a shortage and likely hasn't been for several months, but they're sure keeping it looking like one to make for 18 months of lost revenue due to Covid even though it was their choice to use the global supply chain for items like defense and security products which shows you just how ignorant CEOs actually are.

The current situation as to the supply of reloading components was created by COVID. Then it was enhanced by hoarding. This resulted in supply shortages and higher prices. Price gouging pushed the prices even higher. How do we fix this?

The quickest way to fix this is to reduce demand. Don't buy more than what you need. Stockpiling components only causes prices to go even higher. Supply is not going to increase. Only the consumer of the components can fix the problem.
There is a place for you in the Biden Administration. That is exactly what they are saying about energy supplies and attempting to do by increasing interest rates. It is a typical central planning solution that will not work. Let the market act. Yes, there will be shortages. Plan ahead and act in your own interest.

EVERYTHING is in short supply, due to a number of reasons. Today the politicians are the cause primarily because people who worked pre-covid have not returned to work, because they are satisfied to live off of the govt teat. Retired, I still have close contact with a number of manufacturers and they cannot get help vs before; you see this every where you go. Labor participation rate + unemployment rate = 70%; but the US has not been much better for many years.
That's the odd thing about government employment numbers. They just ignore the unemployment percentage based on people who have decided they just don't wanna play anymore.

Your not being realistic. That's like telling people the way to get gas prices lower is not to drive.

I recently saw where MISO had shutdown their largest nuclear facility and multiple folks in the industry (I am in the utility sector) said that MISO couldn't support all of their customers without that nuke plant. They'd have to buy the missing power from other suppliers. Well, there's two times of the year where you really shouldn't buy power. Summer and winter are those two times. Apparently, Witchmer thought it a great idea, and I can betcha that a whole lot of people either had rolling blackouts, brownouts, or are seeing a good 15-20% price hike on their energy bills. I think they're purposely making the grid look like it can't sustain in climate change. Newsom has already had to fire some retired fossil plants back up. There's something nefarious going on with this green energy bullshit, because there's only two; nuclear and hydro that are actually carbon net neutral.

Looks high to me.

Unfortunately JimPag your probably right. But skeeljc is also correct. So what the result will be in my opinion, 3 years from now in the br game you will be hearing, " I wonder if we get 8 shooters today?" Then the matches will die due to lack of participation. Then we will all have a safe full of worthless br guns. 5 years from now it's gone. I hope I am wrong but I doubt it.Of the active br shooters right now in 5 years 25 or more percent of us will be dead or physically unable to compete. There might be some bang bang competition left but I think that is about it. It was bad going into the last election but I think that was the death blow.

Green energy is a big government-big business scam to enrich insiders. It cannot and will never meet the needs of a stable grid. Government interference, combined with staged lawsuit/settlements between green groups and the government, have made it impossible to build new power plants, update nuke plants, build refineries, etc.

Al Gore was at the front of this and has he moved to a bunker and horded food. NO he has a way for you to pay for your greenhouse gas indiscretions by paying a penalty for them to a bank that he runs and get a percentage of your penalty. It may have some basis in reality, but it can all go away with money to the ruling elite.

You are so right this is a dying sport. I knew that years ago. You can see the writing on the wall. As far as participation goes I noticed starting last year the number of shooters down south in IBS SR score has nosedived. Up here in the Northeast we have more shooters participating in the last 2 years than in the previous say 2 or 3 years. Up here most of the people are mid 60's to mid 70's. I mean if you see 6 jugs of H4198 for 200 each tell me you wouldn't scoop them all up? I know I couldn't get 1200 out of my wallet fast enough, so telling someone not to buy more than you need is shear lunacy. If the opportunity is there grab the motherfkr and say A,B,C you later.

Right as this lunacy started a guy called me and offered me a couple jugs for 200.00. I bought it even though I had powder for this year. The next day another guy called me and offered me a couple of jugs for 200.00 apiece. I bought it. Now if they would have said 300.00 apiece I would have told them to keep it. There is a point if someone thinks I am going to be bent over because I need something.......ain't gonna happen. It's why I bought the springer airgun. No loading or cleaning, shoot indoors all winter. I can adapt. And yes, I have enough bullets to use up that powder.
