Mirage shield material

I use black plastic shim stock. It is color coded based on thickness. The black color is .012" thick and that's the color I chose. It's light weight and stiff enough to do it's
job. I attach it to the barrel with masking tape formed into double
sided tape. It comes in 12" x 24" sheets as I recall. I cut into 3"
strips and cut the lengths as
required to fit. Works well for me.

Thank you everyone for the ideas. I went to a few stores to get some ideas and bought some wired "decorative ribbon" from JoAnn fabrics. Was $7 for about 12 feet. Went with the logic from @Warren Dean about having a device that is a bit porous.

I'll see how it works, and thanks again for all the ideas

I made one back when i shot varmint for score matches from a piece of vinyl siding by drilling holes in it and securing it to my barrel with a couple of zip ties, worked out pretty nice.

I use a lot of fiberglass and might make some mirage shields with vinyl on it. Carbon fiber is cool and looks good but it's hardly needed for this application. If I do them, mine will likely carry my logo on them but they'll be pretty cheap, nice and very functional. We'll see. I got some fiberglass in just yesterday and it was damaged on one end. It might be the perfect opportunity to try some. They'll be laser cut. Might try putting a little curve to a piece and see how it goes but I know flat will work just fine.

I'm interested. Do you need dimensions?

Looks like that one requires electricity?? Mine is 12 volt. I can run it from a wall wart or a 12v battery source. It's cheap but I've had the same one for several years now. Got it at Walmart or target, can't remember which. I think the brand is
O2COOL...or something like that. About 15 bucks at the time.
