Defiance long action cartridge options

Hello this is my first post and hope this is the right place to ask this. I’ve ordered a defiance ruckus ga hunter, long action, standard bolt face with plans to build a 25-06 or a 280ai. I’ve thought about getting a second barrel in 22-250 to use in the spring for coyotes and then in the fall put the other barrel on to hunt deer. My question is will a 22-250 feed from a bdl style magazine box that’s made for the long action cartridges? Also I can purchase different bolts for .223 or magnum cartridges but is there a way ether of those cartridges can be used in the bdl style magazine without permanent modification to the action? Thanks

I doubt the 22-250 will feed reliably. Check with Defiance about extra bolts. The magnum wouldn't be a problem but feeding might be an issue in an action that's setup for 06 size cases. Not that it can't work but it's not just a parts swap in most cases. The 223 would be single shot only. I doubt they even make a bolt.

Might work if you went to something with a central feed like a HS or Kwik klip mag. They will at least be flush fitting at the floor plate

Agreed with Dave's post on bolts and bolt faces

I called defiance and he said to go from the 30-06 family of cartridges to 300wm would require a bolt/barrel but he didn’t think it would feed a 22-250. Maybe I will just use the 25-06 for everything. Thanks for the replies.

25-06 is a sound cartridge,I've used it for deer and foxes with great success.

My original plan for this rifle is to be a switch barrel with a 25-06 barrel and a 280ai or 30-06 barrel for larger game. I don’t know when I will get to go hunt anything bigger than whitetail as that’s the largest game in Alabama and with three young kids it will probably be a while before a trip out west will happen. I’ve been very interested in a 25-06 for a while and I think it will serve me well.

That's been a few years ago. I built several for a customer that gifted them to stalkers on the estates he hunted. Very generous man.
David Ryan was in business as wildcat custom rifles.20ish years ago.then he purchased Minsterley ranges.at that time there was very few people building rifles here Dave and they were very costly.now there is quite few who do it.some full time, some part time, some do it just for them self's.componets are more available now than back in the day.i think David Ryan separated from Marie and she and her son run the ranges now.we shot benchrest there before shooting all of them at Diggle as you will no and you have visited and shot there a number of occasions. .Jacko(R.I.P).Steve Dunn e.t.c.all great guys.i haven't shot there for about 15years...Apologies gentlemen for diverting of the original post.

David is here in the colonies. He's contacted me but I want nothing to do with him. I do miss Jacko.

I always wondered what happened to David.i did hear your relationship with him broke down.Jacko was a great guy, said things how it was and could really take the piss..never a dull moment with him.can you remember the rifle you built for him.i think it was on a Musgrave action,6.5x55,yellow stock and you engraved 'custard cannon' on the barrel.a real character.he did alot of work and dedicated alot of his time at Diggle.one of the founding members if my memory is correct.
