Woodchuck hunting Rangefinder

My sig kilo rangefinder seems to have grown legs and walked outta my shooting bag

I’m curious what post 2020 releases of rangefinders you fellow hunters of soybeanus digestus are using.

Let’s keep the bill under $1000

My Sig Kilo 2000 that I had for years just recently gave up on me. I call Sig Kilo and was told they stopped making that model and offered me a 1600 model at a price I could not refuse.

I use it for ranging groundhogs and it has been working really well for me and it is well below $1000.00.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

I was looking at the 1600 and the 2400 this morning. I loved my sig kilo 2000 as well.

Greg, check out that set of Leica Geovid for $800 on the site. That would be great glass and rangefinder for the quarry you seek. I am not affiliated with the seller in any way.

Greg -

Howdy !

Did have a rangefinder for a while, wayback when; with intent to use it on " Soybeanus Digestus ".
As it turned out, I never used it to take even one shot.

I guess ( in my circumstance ).... I was shooting a comparatively flat shooting cartridge, for the distances
I typically covered. Moreover, I was most often shooting the same fields I usually shot, over-and-over through the years; so yardages/ holds were familiar.

Best of luck in your endeavor !

I'm just the opposite. I shoot prairie dogs for either half or a full month each year. Each day I typically range over 1,000 dogs. I always shoot the best shot next. I used a separate rangefinder for several years after glassing with my binos. Went with the Vortex Fury and now I scan and range in one operation. Couldn't ever imagine going back to a separate rangefinder again.

Bought a Vortex Fury for the same reason and haven't been PD shooting since I got them. I do use them for deer hunting though and they do a good job. Only thing I don't like is they are a tad heavy.

Other than once or twice in 40 years of Ground Hoggin’, I’ve never used one.
I like to “take them as they come” whether it’s 100 yards or 400+ yards. It’s part of the game to me, some times I make the right call and sometimes not. I guess I like things on the traditional side, shooting varmint weight bullets fast and flat. Some days it works and some days it doesn’t LOL
YMMV

Well for me small target means small beam divergence especially past 600y .
After I did some research I settled on a Leica 2800.com

I will also say the Vortex Fury 5000. Own a pair and can't think of a reason to never own a rangfinding bino ever again. They are bright at low light keep up with a high end set of zeiss binos my bro has.

They cannot touch the glass my Zeiss RF binos, not even in the same ballpark. However you can but 3-4 pairs of the Vortex for the price I paid for the Zeiss.

I am still chugging along with a Newcon 1200 I bought ten years ago. Cheap (then) and simple.
