Bipod, stock torque flex issue

Having trouble shooting a decent score at 50 yards, I can usually shoot a decent group but as I start moving my gun it goes to throwing fliers. Boyds laminated stock has pillars but not bedded , screws are torqued to 25 in lb .
Both Tikka and anshutz are doing it. Any suggestions?

Are you using wind flags? Small changes in the air currents can cause a 22 bullet to move more than most people think.

Yes, I try to keep a eye on the flags, but I noticed a pattern yesterday as I was shooting left to right, the further right I shot the lower the shot dropped.

Would have to see each of these rifles bipod setup but if I had to guess, and if conditions are not a factor and it occurs with all three, I would look at barrel channel contact on the barrels. Even if freefloated, large amounts of forend twist can contact the barrel. Result...variable accuracy.

I've found group shooting much easier then score shooting where it’s a slightly different setup for each shot. Torque on the bipod, bag bind on the rear bag causes fliers.
Try slipper feet or ski feet on your bipod.

Torquing is bad, mkay?
If you're creating twisting force instead of pivoting or moving freely, figure how to not.
Even lifting the bipod completely to reset the feet is better than accepting a torque force.

i don't think that my Remple rest does that.. but since moving to the SEB mini.. i have not used it any.. i have thought about selling it

Good advice here.

Relax the grip. If it continues aim higher as you go.
In shooting 25 bulls per card if i see the bullet moving in a pattern i start aiming to play that pattern.
As i go through a card i remember the 3rd 4th & 5th bulls on the other row(s) changed and i need to change my poa.

Not unusual for half the card to be one way and the other half to be another way.

Not an expert by any stretch of the imagination here, but when shooting from a bipod, I try to insure the rifle is square to my shoulders so any recoil is driving straight back. If I find myself shooting a little off, it is usually because the shoulder alignment is causing a deflection from my intended POI.
I would also recommend a "soft shoulder". Trying to hold the rifle tight while using a bipod can make you less accurate. Allow the bipod feet to settle where they please before each shot. Applying any torque to them can affect POI.
Relax, enjoy, rinse, repeat.

Taking a break this week, thanks for all the advice, weather is supposed to be nice this weekend, hope to get some trigger time if nothing comes up.

I've recently switched over from front rest to bipod and have noticed my rifle seems to be more consistent by back loading the bipod instead of forward preloading. Almost static but slight pressure back on the bipod seems to be the ticket for this one. Ymmv

What bipod are you using?
