The Proper Response-Get Rid of the Guns

i’m confused. isn’t it illegal to take a gun into a school? isn’t it illegal to kill someone with no threat levied at you? it was probably against a city ordnance to drive around with a loaded rifle. if none of these laws stopped him what are more laws going to do?

the law abiding citizens are the ones that get shit on with new laws not the criminals….
I've used that basic argument for years. I've told a number of anti-gun people that cocaine, heroin, and crystal meth are against the law, but you can find them in pretty much every town in America.

As a Christian, I could opine on a host of spirtual, moral and religious topics as to what's currently happenning in this country:

(1) actions (abortion) & consequences (Shooting school children)

(2) the judgment of God on schools for kicking Him out of schools,

(3) teaching survival of the fittest rather than divine creation and having to watch survival of the fittest play out in classrooms, etc

I think all are in play.

But to simplify, I'll just say "Get rid of the gun free zone."

While AR15s exist everythere in the country (theya re the #1 sporting firearm by far) , they are only a problem where gov't and corporate policy have turned then into a problem - in churches, schools and shopping malls. Gun free zones disarm the good guys and inform the crimninally and mentally insane where to go to get a huge body count. Somehow, ZERoi mass shootings happen in police stations, militrary barracks, gun shows, three gun, etc matches etc,

And DEMAND the news media run THIS story every day for weeks like the Uvalde story:

The ruling of the court was more about the prevention of a school shooting in Florida. Not the taking of an action to stop an in progress crime.

A crime being committed in real time in the presence of a law enforcement officer is an entirely different circumstance.

For instance: I am standing on the corner and an altercation starts in my presence. It is dereliction of duty for me to stand there and just watch. What would you think if I just decided to walk away or just stood there with my hands in my pocket.
I'm only barely conversant on law;

The SC rulings I was referring to are decades(if not longer) old. My "assumption" is....

The court recognizes the 2nd.... and in doing so,is foundational on the police's "immunity". Maybe not fully but definitely tied to it. Because individuals can legally protect themselves, the police can't be 100% liable.

Still can be wrong here;

I'm implying that the courts have sorta(and rightly so) used the 2nd as a shield. Without it,now who's responsible?

Pray for the woman to get through this ordeal.

In 1990 a Male senator introduced the Gun Free Zone around schools. THE GUN FREE ZONE bill of 1990.

Since that bill was passed 92 per cent of all mass shootings have occurred in schools.

That Male senator is our so called President of the USA today, and I will not call him a man.

We have all the laws we need, pertaining to a lot of things , that are not being enforced.

Sorry, no other answers. here

**THIS WAS COPIED FROM A TEACHERS POST**

Have you ever stood on a playground while your class played at recess and scanned the entire area, trying to decide what the best escape plan would be if bullets began flying? Have you feared the open space and tried to imagine just how many children you could lead to a safe location? Because I have.

Have you ever contemplated how many children you could fit into the cabinets, how quickly you could get them in, without making it obvious that you have just emptied them all to hide? Have you thought about what exactly you could say to keep them silent? Because I have.

Have you ever had tears streaming down your face as you've thought about what the lives of your family and friends will be like after you've put yourself between an armed shooter and a child at your school to try and protect them? Because I have.

Don't tell me we need stricter gun laws. Drug addicts find access to illegal drugs. the same as criminals would find access to illegal guns.

We don't have a gun problem. We have a selfish, disrespectful, undisciplined, temper tantrum throwing when we don't get our way problem.

Do better. Do better with your kids. Don't let them get away with everything at a young age. Raise them in church. Teach them to pray their way through struggles instead of turning to drugs and alcohol.

Undisciplined kids turn into entitled adults.

With all of that being said it is a little reassurance that where my children go to school we do have teachers that conceal.

Back in the late 80’s at my large high school there were 2 dozen AR rifles and thousands of rounds of ammo in the parking lot on any given day. We had stacks of mags and buckets of ammo- all military surplus and easy to obtain. There were no school shootings and it never crossed anybodys minds to do so. The real answer is to find out whats different now than it was back then. We wouldnt have done anything like that because god forbid we survived our dads would have beat us to death. We didnt get participation trophies- we lost sometimes and we knew we lost because we kept score. We didnt have safe spaces nor counselors telling us we may be girls.

I read the New York Times everyday (online). And other publications. There is an editorial slant for sure, and quite a few Opinion pieces and news articles that allow one to comment ( and give one's own opinion) on the article and the comments are available in real time for viewers to read, also. Many articles are about the Texas shooting and the need for "gun control" (whatever that is) and outright abolition. I am actively writing comments to rebut the many hundreds of readers' views - mine in favor of unfettered gun ownership. I can make a reasoned argument and I know how these NYT readers "think". Unfortunately I am now likely seen as a gun nut. I'd bet 99% of these readers have never seen a gun, nor touched one. Many have never been west of The Hudson River. I am fighting the good fight to convince people (in comments) that there is a vast silent majority of decent, honorable, law-abiding, morally upstanding, safety-minded, gun-owning individuals. The common response by others is fairly closed-minded...just "get rid of all guns". And they are obsessed with AR bans. Granted, a specific and small subset of readers.
Thank You for your efforts!

I think they might be able to get the “Assault Weapons Ban” reinstated, either by executive order or other means. Their next move would be to try to get a buy back program thru, like they did in Australia. (They did an interview with the Aussie Prime Minister and he lauded the benefits. No wonder why they aired that.)
If they somehow manage to get that passed, there’s going to be BIG trouble. I hope they don’t try it, but it’s hard to predict “crazy”!
Take it from an Australian. They can and will institute this at some point unless it’s lobbied against. Now here they take lever actions with magazines off us, guns that have a “military appearance” such as dta etc that have actual great uses for target shooting.

Then the idiots don’t realise criminals don’t hand back things - so they regulate licences shooters - always good to have a scape goat.

I personally feel a waiting period for the first gun of a certain type (rimfire / shotgun etc) is a good idea, and licensing to avoid people with serious mental health conditions is a good idea. But honestly we are over regulated here. Problem becomes so many shooters in Australia think it’s normal to have these things changed - and simply accept it. In Western Australia there are limits how many rifles you can own / the others are trying for that. Cannot own a semiautomatic rifle or shotgun dispite having record numbers of pigs etc unless you are employed as a pest eradication employee.

So, take the threats seriously. You are an idiot if you don’t approach this topic as a serious threat. Look to New Zealand’s latest attempt - stopped only by shooters simply refusing to hand things in.

Actually that male Senator was Sen. Herb Kohl (D-Wisconsin). The legislation was co-sponsored by Dennis DeConcini (D-Arizona) and eventually signed into law by President George H.W. Bush.

Don't promote false/misleading information please.

Mitch McConnell stated he'd be willing to work with Schumer to put a bill through. Knee jerk reactions are always wrong. Gun control will not stop the festering wounds that are destroying America. This is straight from Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals". Our culture has been eroded by atheists and Marxists for a very long time. Marxism has even creeped into religion.
Congress' answer to every problem is another law and it always comes to the same end. It makes the situation worse.
As for the situation in Uvalde, I cannot say as I don't have enough information. Apparently wrong assessment of the situation was made and followed through on. Why would be a good question. I do pray for the victims' families of this terrible tragedy.
Billions sent to Ukraine but zero spent on this same story that keeps happening repeatedly. The guy running things had 8 years as VP to fix it yet, crickets. He's had 40+ years in Congress to solve it yet, crickets. This will not get solved by removing guns anymore than forks won't get removed because people are obese. Also who blames a pencil when they fail a test. It's Hypocrisy all the way. Focus of the nut WITH the gun not the gun.

Teachers should be trained and required to conceal carry.
A good read that relates to this. https://www.rand.org/research/gun-policy/analysis/laws-allowing-armed-staff-in-K12-schools.html

I have several friends/family that are school teachers here in Iowa and the overall feelings I get to this idea is that most teachers do NOT want to cross that line, and I imagine if they were expected to cross that line, they would just leave that profession. We already have a serious shortage of teachers already. :(

Laws only work when
1. A person is willing to obey them. (Many laws are way off base. Example the Blue Sky laws)
2. To remove someone who has been shown to be dangerous to society.
Government has only a threat of law enforcement and money to keep people in order. There are many issues that need to resolved.
However, today's government is trying to be everybody's savior (which is impossible) if you vote for them.
Over my lifetime the country has gone from each individual is responsible (example The Greatest Generation) to only the government can be responsible.
However, it takes good individuals who are responsible for themselves to make a great country. Government and media are "solving" societal problems by grouping people. Then pitting one group against the other. No wonder we have chaos.
The Answer is individuals need to be responsible for themselves. Instead we get an empowered response of you hurt me so I can hurt you. That is the dissolution of society.

My experience: The teachers in school these days are not the kind of people I’d want teaching my kids the “ways of the world”. A lot of the younger folks I know are home schooling their kids to protect them from these liberals.

Guns are not the problem, never have been. We all know this. Criminals, by definition, do not follow laws. Govt obviosly has control over a large part of our populations weak minds, using fear mongering, and heart strings. Thats the sad truth. Every recent test they’ve thrown at us, the majority has failed miserably, and has shown unwavering compliance.
It’s far past time to reinstate Capital Punishment. Many criminals have it better in prison than they do out. Climate control, and all of life’s necessities for free. If they do get sentenced, we pay to feed and house them. The SYSTEM is ridiculous, and Thats what needs reform.
Enforce existing laws, and kill the convicted killers quickly.
Treason is also punishable by death, just sayin…
