i am atempting to make the ctgs out of 284 brass and am finding the loaded round to have too large of neck dia (480) and it should be ~476 max ---is neck turning or inside reamin the solution---i have shot/loaded bottle neck ctgs for 50 years but never straight wall ctgs !! any advice will be welcomed and appreciated --- here are pics of the rounds made from 284 but with a bullet in them they are too "fat" to fit--Roger

Not being a wise guy.. .

You are loading .452" NOT .458 bullets?? The bushmaster is one of those kinda oddball rifle rounds that use a "pistol" bullet. Your measurements make me wonder if that's not maybe what happened?

I didn't try to make brass for my bushy. I found Starline and have been using it.

Can't recall my loaded round measurements but I'd be glad to measure it if you'd need anything measured.

That forum is a great resource. I didn't post there. But learned a lot there.

thanks for the advice--your not being a wise guy--you are trying to help--they are 452 (most measure 451) i have found out that the factory brass has a rim diameter that is 3-5 thousands smaller than the original 284 brass because the bolt face is weakend when taken to the full size rim !!!---i have ordered two boxes of factory ammo to have brass to reload--thank you (and the others) for the good advice--Roger
