Where is a good source for a small bolt faced bolt that will fit into a Savage Model 10 short action chambered for a 308. If I were to change to a small bolt nose what parts are required/needed and a source.

There’s no need to run the .223 baffle in a model 10 just because you went to .223. I removed mine because I’m mag feeding longer .223 from aics magazines. There’s no harm in shortening the stroke for .223 if you don’t need the full stroke, but I’ve seen no problem with it removed and using full .308 stroke for.223.

I would not recommend PT&G for anything you need. If it's in stock you may get the part within 2 months, maybe. If you have to order it and have them make it maybe, maybe 6 months. I've dealt with them several times in the past and never again will I buy anything from them.

In my opinion they are almost scammers.

I bought a .223 bolt from Gunshack, my buddy bought the same one from Midway. They come almost complete, minus the ejector, spring, and pin.

A bolthead would be just that. You need a bolthead, extractor, extractor spring, detent ball, ejector, ejector spring, pin to complete one. All parts are available at more than several places when in stock.
