Rimfire Gallery--Show Us Your Gun

g'day ..... hoops here ... from australia , queensland far north.
this is my wpn.

Don’t intent to offend anyone but I’m finicky, it’s only a weapon if used for illegal purposes.

We have very restrictive laws over here on firearms ownership and use, weapon is the term banded about by anti gun, anti hunting, anti countryside brigade.

It’s a rifle, handgun, shotgun, etc designed and used for target/sporting/hunting purposes.

I respectfully suggest that you consult a dictionary. With respect to a firearm, what makes it a "weapon" is its ability to inflict bodily harm, the same as a knife, a bludgeon, etc. A firearm is a weapon, whether used for legal or illegal purposes.

You might also consider that accepting the anti's characterization connoting weapons as illegal concedes their point. In spite of restrictive firearm laws, Australian law still considers the use of a weapon in self defense lawful.

Maybe it's time to stop being finicky, and to stiffen your spine.

The old man pulled garden duty with a Westernfield 22 lever gun and later, a Golden Marlin 39A. The modern combo of an accurate bolt gun, RDS, subsonic ammo and a rimfire can is cheating by comparison.

I think you need to rephrase the statement about what is a weapon otherwise everything and anything is weapon.
anything becomes a weapon when used to- inflict bodily harm, injury or death. all my firearms are just that firearms not weapons!

Skipper,

Each to their own as they say, you have your view and I’ll not criticise you for it but I’ll keep my view in that they are sporting firearms, legally licensed for legal activities.

In my country firearms are severely restricted and licensed for sporting purposes only, firearms cannot be licensed/held for self-defence.

Our legislation is old, not fit for purpose, it’s overly restrictive and not everyone is so lucky to obtain a license. Application is nine (9) A4 pages plus a page or two with further info you are asked to provide, an interview or two, a house visit (security/safe check) and once your license is awarded the police can enter your home anytime they like to check your firearms/mags/security/safe, etc.

Throw in inept politicians past and present, anti-gun, anti-hunting, anti-tradition, anti-countryside brigade plus media commentators who wouldn’t know a pistol from a pencil and who regularly paint all legally licensed firearms holders as armed to the teeth and bloodthirsty, you would think we were the criminals.

We here are battling long and hard to try and change people’s views on firearms, end of day they are “tools of the trade” as they say and licensed for a specific purpose, note - we are not allowed semi-autos, AK’s or god forbid A4’s.

As Lee says, anything can be classified as a weapon if used in an illegal manner.

The good thing is that we can all have our views and be civilised about it.

Never been into the tactical stuff, but must admit it’s very functional on a 22. Cz 457 pro varmint in an MDT LSS gen2 chassis. This thing loves cci sv, SK rifle match and eley tenex. Now I have the tuner on I’m looking forward to some more testing.

If you want to acquire or use a weapon in any category, you must prove that you have a genuine reason for needing that type of weapon, for example recreational hunting, sport or target shooting or an occupational need.
If you live in Queensland and wish to own or use a weapon, you must hold a valid weapons licence that covers the relevant category of weapon/s.
The Weapons Act 1990 defines what is considered a weapon by law. Broadly, a weapon can be:

  • a firearm – typically a handgun, rifle or shotgun
  • something else that comes under regulation as a weapon (for example, a crossbow); or
  • something that would be a weapon if it wasn’t temporarily or permanently inoperable.

Weapon categories

after 20 years in the australian army mate all rifles and hand guns are called wpns...

Greetings, I’ll still stick with my views, thank you.

You quote your Weapons Act 1990 for your country, we don’t have a weapons act here, we have a Firearms Act.

Oh, 34 years of military service here.

My old 40x and a couple of targets. Left is 15 shots, right is 5. The one low was the first shot then 4 in the center. Still a shooter. (Shot at 50yds)

The 15 shot group was Standard Plus. A guy shooting next to me had the S-K in a red box. Never seen it before then. I only shot 5 rounds but sure would like to try more. I didn't want to shoot all his good ammo up. My old 40X shoots the S-K Standard about as good as or better than some quality ammo. I have more expensive ammo but it doesn't shoot as good.

I thought this was a “Show us your gun” thread. Not an ammo thread.
So, no talking ammo? :( You gunna point that rifle down range and go Bang Bang?
Nice to let folks know what "ammo" works best for them being that the "ammo" isn't re loadable. ;)

Vudoo V22S - Shilen 20" ratchet barrel, FlavioFare trigger, Grayboe stock, March 10x60/52 w/MTR3 illuminated reticle. The tuner is a Harrell that I have been experimenting with using the Hopewell method for a year or so without significant improvement and I normally shoot hot-weather matches without it. I took the rifle to the Lapua Rimfire Performance Center in Mesa AZ last year and use the selected lot of Midas+. I have shot two ARA matches (unlimited class) and quite a few club-level matches with it.

Sounds similar to the path the good ol US of A is headed down at present. :(
