Stopped in a gun shop in GA. today hoping to find some primers, they have had a few off and on as well as 1# bottles of powder.
I managed to snag a couple hundred Fiocchi SR primers but that's how it's been for the last 2 years, hit or miss
As I was walking out I mentioned to the young man at the counter still no 4198 but other powders keep showing up.
He then said " Hogdon" where I replied yes Hogdon.
The next words out of his mouth were music to my ears, " there's a big bottle there on the floor."
Sure enough I never saw it but I made sure that I grabbed it.
There was another customer in the store and if by chance he had reached for it it would have been like 2 pitbulls fighting over a ribeye steak.
It had plenty of dust on it and a date of 8/16/15, the price was higher than in the past but still cheaper than if I ordered it on line.
It was easy to walk around with a smile on my face today.

Like the majority of Hodgdon powder...
Shame you cannot get some Bench Mark 1, it's between H4198 & H322{AR2219}

Strange that Hodgdon doesn't import Benchmark 1 to the US. I would have thought that it would be better seller there than OZtralia or Noozland. I used it in 450 Hornady to rattle my teeth.

That’s what Hodgkin wants us to think so they can charge $500 plus per 8 lbs when the next batch appears if it ever will

Bad thing is the store got it for the 2015 price and sold it for the 2022 price. Still a nice find though

I'll take all the "dusty" H4995 and Varget available, well on second thought, maybe the amount I can afford.

There are so many people looking for 4198 that I thought maybe they'd discontinued it or stopped importing to the U.S. I bought a couple of 1lb cans of it after I'd built myself a 20 VarTarg a few years ago, but that's about all I've ever used it for.

I have all but quit looking for H4198 and about given up on Hodgdon all together. H322 is about the same as H4198 availability wise. H322 was their bread and butter for a long time.
