SEB NEO, Ratigan or MAX

If you have had one of the NEOs and a MAX (I've had the NEO and the Ratigan) how do they compare (I shoot short range UBR), I have in the past had problems with movement. How would you rate the NEO vs the MAX? Pros vs cons?
Thanks,

I have both, and went to the max due to movement when pushing back to the stop. The max also allows me to shoot my LR wide front guns and heavy’s.
The disadvantage is again the extra weight, better get a gym membership and work those biceps and triceps.

What Dusty mentioned about a shot bag. Weight is your friend.
What feet are your running ?? That could be some of your problem.
I mainly use a Bald Eagle that I added 2" discs for feet. If I hit the
stop too hard, I could slide the rest. I added non skid rubber to
those discs, and now it's solid.....I have not done it, but I have seen
blocking clamped to the bench then the rest slid up against that
to stop all forward motion. You would have to check the rules for
doing that.

I got the Max & sold the Neo because I was running 2 different width stocks. I didn't think I was getting consistent pressure with the adjustments between stocks ( most likely just me ) so I sold the Max and the wide stocked gun and gave the Mini a go. I ended up preferring the Mini to the other 2 due to it's lighter weight, bigger foot print and swivel top. I have, for now , moved away from the joystick type rest for my style of shooting......Both Dusty & Mike gave some great advise...............Happy Shooting.

Rick

Put a sack of lead shot over the rear leg
The problem with this is a drop port action, I can reverse the single long leg to the front and add weight there. One range we shoot at (BGSL) is slightly downhill and therefore you have to add height to the rear bag and lower the front (lead shot should help here too), @gunsandgunsmithing has a great idea of cleaning the bench (probably should before every shoot with the pollen in the air.

Ive seen a lot of folks put some water straight on the bench and set their superfeet on it. Its real sticky but thats not going to keep the rest from rocking since the rest feet are just sitting in the superfeet. It wont slide but itll rock. If you put the neo leg forward itll unload that foot on recoil. I never realized that until it actually came out of the superfoot and plopped back down in it

Whenever we were shooting rails, I carried 2-25# bags of 7.5 shot to put on the base. But that was back when they sold shot in the canvas bags that would withstand the rigor. I would be afraid of the new bags that shot comes in now. I can just see all those small pellets rolling off the bench

Frankie, the good thing about the MAX is it’s Heavy. Also easily accommodates an 8” gun, and quickly adjusts down to fit any thinner stock. The bad thing about a MAX is its Heavy.
PITA to transport and constantly swap benches, after 5 back surgeries.
I’ve used both, and still prefer the MAX.
Cant go wrong with either though!

If you have Lawrence brand shot be careful! The side seams will split just from sitting them on the bench. High priced shot in very fragile bags.

Thank you, I've had 1 SI joint surgery and going to have to have both knees done (left is scheduled for October, after shooting season) and the right probably the following year. Sucks getting old but hey I may be the next 6 million dollar man!

Stabil feet from PMA tool stopped my NEO from moving on the bench
I put that Sh!t on everything! LOL I've had them on every rest I've had and still get some movement but maybe just my handling skills pushing to hard forward.
