Comment on 6.5 Creedmoor

Bottom Fodder

Seems like people ether love it or make fun of it what’s the deal
Never had one never shot one don’t plan getting one just think it’s funny the love / hate for this caliber

I love the cartridge and quite frankly, it has alot going for it. Do I think the 6.5x47 Lapua is better in many regards? Yes. Do I think Remington messed up the .260 Remington? Yes again. So to me, it's superior to the .260 in most ways but inferior to the Lapua.

I will say this with certainty. Fans of the Creedmoor don't do themselves or their club any favors by spelling it "Creedmore".

I was never going to buy a 6.5 Creedmoor, NEVER I said… My LGS had a CZ 557 American Select on the used rack that I picked up every time I went in for couple of months. I wanted the rifle, it was calling to me, but wouldn’t buy it because it was 6.5cm. Wasn’t that I hated it or anything, just had no desire or need for one. So one day I bought it. I don’t think it was fired. When we opened the box to pack it for me, there was a new box to Remington ammo in it. Looked like the guy bought it, decided it was too much effort to put rings on it so put it up for sale with the one box of ammo he bought with it.

If he wasn’t a reloader, and if that was the only ammo he tried in it, he would have sold it anyways. That Rem factory ammo was a solid sub 4 MOA! First THREE shot group was 3.85” and they didn’t get any better. I had my son shoot them up so I could reload the brass. My first reloads with 120gr Hornady and H414 were sub 1 MOA. I haven’t played with it since because I’ve busy with cast bullet loads in several other rifles.

Love the rifle but found out last deer season that it’s way too heavy for my type of hunting. I’m a walker, drives me nuts sitting in a stand so I move. About 200 yards into the woods all I could think about was how heavy this freaking gun was! I didn’t buy it for a deer rifle anyways so no big deal, just something to shoot.

The 6.5 Creedmoor had a couple special accomplishments that may never be repeated.
The first factory cartridge packaged with load data on box which led to the second first.... never has a cartridge been so popular to create an immediate shortage of the powder that was shown used which was H-4350.

See i picked up my creed for the 2.800" mag length solution. 600y has become near boring with an off the rack DPMS upper and 2650fps 140s. Scary accurate, and moving to a 308, I'm finding them slightly more picky.

Would i care to have a bolt action in 6.5 creed? Probably not, but given how easy it was to get something going with factory ammo support; i was hooked after my first box.

I used to make Fun of, the "Needmore", back in the beginning Days, WHEN it was "Touted" as, a 1,300 Yard, "sure thing", Elk, slayer, on the Internet ! Now, I have One and it's, a "Corker", to shoot !
YUP, it's a good Design and, accurate !
But, I ain't gonna, try to shoot an Elk past, 5- 600 yards with it ! In fact, it will probably stay Home, during, Elk season.

I passed the 6.5 CrdM and selected the 6Crd. Then, I built a 6.5 PRC on Short Action+ and it is a slammer at 1000 yards

I've never shot a 6 Creedmoor but have shot probably a half dozen or so 6.5 Creedmoor's out to 1000 yards. Mostly factory ammo, all of them accurate enough for steel work and 600 yard f class with said ammo. I shoot 4 different cartridges in 6mm so a 6 Creed doesn't intrest me. However if I was looking for a 6.5 cartridge it would be a 6.5x47 Lapua....

People make fun of it like the Disco era. Everyone wanted it.
But if your a "serious" shooter, won't be caught dead now shooting one. lol
It did speed up the interest in long range shooting. Hornady did an excellent job marketing it.
It's now the "modern" 308
I've owned the 6.5 Creed, 6 Creed and the 6.5x47L and 6x47
Still have a 6x47

I’m happy with mine. Tikka action, 30” krieger, Eliseo chassis, March 10-60x. It’s my sling Any/Any rifle. Pushing a 140 berger hybrid at 2880 fps. It does well in the wind at 1000, better than my Palma gun.

Recoil/barrel life/wind drift= my comprise

I chose, the 6.5 Creed, in a Tikka, SS T-3, 24" as, a Handy, Light weight ( 7.5 lbs ) Accurate,.. Deer, Antelope, Coyote & Steel Fun, Rifle ! It Replaces, a .243 Win that, my grandson "abscounded", with ( Loaned, & NOT getting, it, Back ! )
I'm Shooting, the 123 ELD-M's for the closer, to 600 Yds, Fun steel / Yote Load and the 143 ELD-X's for, LR & Game.
I use a, 6.5 X 20 Scope and, will "Dial" off, my Charts for, either Bullet !

the Creed is taking off with gun makers and buyers.

Work at a LGS and the most common caliber we have is the 6.5 Creed. Yes we do have others but customers are asking for the precision rifles in 6.5 creed.

In fact was at the range today doing some load testing fr my 2nd 6.5 Creed and 5 other shooters had , Savage, Ruger, Bergra precision rifles all in 6.5 Creed.

I started this crazy rabbit hole with a used Savage 12, F/V and 600 yds. Built a 6mm CM from a old Savage 308 and then 2 months ago bought another used Savage 12 F/V, yes in 6.5 CM going to be my F class gun this year.

I made out like a bandit as none of them reloaded there brass.

All BS aside. The 6 or 6.5CM are pretty much just newer and improved versions of the 243 and 260 designed for LR bullets. A little less case capacity and a name people are already sick of because many think it's the do all cartridge and second to none. In reality, having it's limitations, it's a very good cartridge and it's biggest benefit is the availability of factory ammo for various kinds of shooting, unlike the 243 or 260 today.

@ 284,..
Once, I put, the Old, SICKENING BS, "Claims", to Rest and judged, the 6.5 Creed on IT's own, Merits,..
I found it to be, a Sweet, low recoiling, accurate, High BC, Round, that's near Perfect for, Light Weight Rifles, used for, Deer, Antelope, Coyote's & Steel "Fun" at, any reasonable, range.
It replaced, a .243 Win that, went, MIA and I expect, "Better Things" from, the Creed. on Game !
And it'll be, easier on, Barrels than, the ole' .243 Win !
