MPA rifle - 6BR or 6 Creed

I am thinking about getting an MPA BA PMR Pro rifle. I was initially thinking about getting it in 6.5 creedmore, but my gun dealer (who is a VERY accomplished shooter & PRS competitor) is suggesting going to a 6BR. He is saying that this is the easiest cartridge to get reliable consistent performance out of, has less recoil and gets longer barrel life. He did say that to get the consistency I need to go to Lapua brass.

I do want to start shooting some PRS matches, but am also looking for a general long range rifle. Also concerned that with the 6.5 creedmore being more popular, bullets & brass will be easier to scrounge up. I am probably overthinking this as I can always get another barrel later, but am trying to pick the best starting point for this rifle.

The 6BR is amazing! No doubt. In your case my concern would be getting it to feed reliability, 100 percent of the time. It can be very hard to accomplish. But there are magazine kits on the market today that I have not used that may make this a moot point. Good luck with your project.

6br...... I don't know how far your long range you are talking about but with the right load and bullets the 6br will carry to 1200 plus yards accurately enough to bang steel in a Match.

MPA uses a Curtis axiom action. Is this controlled feed?
It sounds like a push feed. However I would buy the mag they recommend and ask them to tune them when they build the rifle to be sure. I have been told the BRA has more issues due to the shoulder angle change. I know shooters that have push feed actions with the 6BR that work good with a little mag tuning.

6br all the way.

I build a 6 creed a few years back. Fast, accurate, great rifle. Build a 6bra last year and I never touch the creed any more. I enjoy everything about the bra over the creed. I won’t sell my creed as I can’t seem to sell guns but I also have no interest in it compared to the bra.

Run the mdt br mags!

Maybe a set back and a rechamber to a second br lol

I know people (good shooters) that strayed away from the 6br
when the 6.5 x47 did better in conditions. One now is shooting
the 25x47 using the 131gr Black Jack.

I had the same decision to make 2 years ago. I went 6GT as feeding is very simple and reliable with only a little tweaking of your magazines, and in my opinion for 'PRS' you dont need the extra 80-100 fps of the 6Creed. Alpha 6GT brass is freeking amazing! am pretty sure I will never shoot it out

Why are you questioning what this guy has to say? He sure sounds like he is steering you in the right direction.

The Compromise between the two is the 6mmGT. or the the 6XC. It seems like the 6 Creed is a little over bore for the job at hand. When the top shooters are shooting the Dasher, and 6mm BRA and 6 GT. That should kind of tell you something. 6mm Creed is a little hard on barrels until you de tune it to the point you are getting 6XC and 6GT velocities, so why not just run a 6XC or 6GT then?
Something to think about.

Simple. Lapua brass.

And many of the top shooters in PMS are running Dasher/BRA at 2825-2875fps; essentially removing almost any advantage the cartridge offers. Almost any 6/6.5 caliber will perform fine. Train more, practice more, compete more and you will improve.
so your saying Peterson Brass is Junk?
