Sightron 36x45 Ed help ?

Is any one using the Sightron 36x45 Ed for 22lr benchrest. Thinking of giving it a try.

Have used one for the last nine months for 50 & 100 yard benchrest shooting. Can not believe how clear and close the ARA targets are. Have to get used to fine crosshairs and small dot,

Do you have much trouble with mirage at close distance. Would you recommend the fine crosshairs or the fine crosshairs with the small dot??

I went back and forth between the SIII 36X ED and the SIII 45X ED. shooting IR 50/50 targets I thought my SII 36X needed a little more magnification so I ordered the 45X from Lance and hope to have it the end of next week. shooting ARA factory class targets with my 36X was fine.

Thanks for the info. I am probably gonna go with the 36x Ed hope the new model is a good improvement over the s2 36x

I have a 45x SIII ED I got from Lance for my V22-s build last yr. Had been using a Weaver 36 on the prior gun, now "backup", and was happy/satisfied with the Weaver. Won't go back to the Weaver 36x now going forward. Can't justify putting a 45x on the backup, but it has passed between my ears a few times.

IMHO, regardless of scope manufacture, for BR shooting you definitely need fine/superfine cross hairs plus small target dot.

Thick cross hairs just get in the way and blot out some of the ten. I use a Sightron 36x fixed power, great scopes.

Yes, I use the older Sightron SII 36x42 BRD for Br at 50yds and some 100 yd comps.

At 42mm it not the brightest scope out there but I'm super happy with it.

Check out Rimfirecentral.com, scope section, with the esteemed Weaver 36 no longer in production lots of folk have gone to Sightron. Been using mine for 3 plus years now, no issues whatsoever, from what I see they are going up in price in some places. I sure would like to get an SIII or higher someday.

I'm another no dot, fine CH type of guy. Dots are a personal choice, try both to see what suits you.

I like dots on my long range bench guns but I am thinking at 50 and 100 it cover more then the fine crosshairs

Try to look thru some scopes at matches, the only way to know w/o buying first and finding out it's not gonna work for you.

I'd go for the dot. The crosshairs are very fine on these scopes and can be a little hard to find on overcast days. Anyway, the dot on my Sightron SII 36x's is only 1/8 moa, 1/10 moa on my 45x45. Both too small to obscure the target in any way but helpful in picking up the reticle in dim light. No big deal either way -- both reticles work just fine. I have both types and don't see a whole lot of difference.
