Removing the extractor claw on a Defiance Deviant Elite Controlled Round Feed Action

Sure, you push the button down inside that hole and slide it off. I use a tiny drill bit. I also recommend you do it inside a plastic bag to contain the flying parts. Is there something wrong with it?

Thanks. I want to do the Wheeler find the lands method. But now I’m also wondering if the claw needs to be removed for this bolt style as there isn’t anything pushing on the cartridge base?

Personally I would leave it in place as it is usually the spring loaded ejector that is the problem. You appear to have a standing ejector so I would go for it!

Doesn't that method use the extractor to determine if the bullet has wedged into the lands?

You couldn't use that method if the extractor was removed.

Oh no you dont remove extractors just ejectors. You have a fixed ejector in the action so you dont need to do anything special just do it
Ok. As I looked at this (wondering how to remove it) it seemed like it wasn't going to be necessary. Glad to have confirmation.

What did the boys at Defiance say?

I was waiting for a response from them. But it seems I needn't worry.

Thanks all!

I think this was a complete brain fart on my front. Extractor vs ejector. Duh. I must be getting old.

And when I did this when I first got this rifle (quite some time ago and about 230 rounds ago) I got a very different answer. (9.5 thou difference.)
