Moving backers at 1,000 yards???

Dave, please let me know what ya find out,

I have had a discussion with Adam, the shotmarkers will work, but they are not 100%, mainly because of the benches being so close and everyone shooting fast. My plan was to only count shots.every range would be different, they could possibly work great at one place and have some troubles at another , im talking benchrest only, f class no problem.
If there was a shroud btween targets would help, but would be a major pain in the ass.

We will know in June, Vapor trail will have 14 to try out, its a test for benchrest, but fclass at a grand at the valley will be fun!

Stanly if you don't have anything to add in the conservation that might help, why speak?

Actually, I feel my question does add to this discussion. The club I shoot at, isn’t in a position to spend that kind of money on these resources.

I would appreciate you not taking my questions and concerns at lesser value than others who may be in better environments for these resources. Not all clubs are built the same financially, and any help strategically, I feel, is a pertinent question, coming from anyone.

I'm not up on what capabilities are for range, and power requirements, or cost, for outdoor surveillance camera systems. But Donovan during conversation the other day suggested that as a possible "shot counter system". I would think one camera could cover a few targets at a time, and act as a person counting dirt impacts for non pit ranges? Something like that could be protected as well from accidental impacts.

Stan I know your club hasn't got as many members as we do but when we were building 15 benches the club said we didn't have enough money for Concrete so I volunteered an went around and got donations from the members and just one weekend I collected $15,000 Sometimes if you ask nice you never know what you will get. And it doesn't all have to be collected in one year get a savings going.

I think that’s a great idea, however, with the size and membership numbers of some ranges, it’s tougher to expect those that have to shoot at other ranges through the year to have to give more in the long run.

I am all for new ideas for scoring our targets, but doesn’t ione think that heads are getting a little bit swollen. Seems that there’s some that think Sub 2” ten shot groups will be the norm. On my behalf I hope that it happens. Would like to see that but with reality and Mother Nature it seems like an uphill climb. I have seen 9 shot groups under.75” but never 10. That was 20 years ago. That is at 1000 just to clarify. Don’t see the need for clubs to spend countless amount of dollars for the verification of 10 shots which the pit crew could easily verify.
