Looking for the right gunsmith

I'm looking for a gunsmith who can take a low wall Winchester 1885 and re-barrel it to one of the newer 6mm calibers like the
6mm PPC
6mm BR
6mm ARC
6 mm Creedmore
A modern high wall like the Brownings were built in high pressure chamberings, but I wouldn’t want to use an original that’s over 100 years old. I don’t think a low wall, even a modern one, would be a good choice. As mentioned above, Lee Shaver could tell you for sure.

The Winchester/Browning, Miroku Low Walls have been chambered from the factory in 22-250, 243, 260, 223 and many others over the years.

Currently Winchester has .222, .223, 6.5 cm, 6 cm, 6.5x55, 243. Some may be limited production, generally by Lipsey’s.

There is no question on the action strength. The Miroku is a completely different action that fits inside a look alike frame.

The original design was limited to basically pistol cartridges and/or black powder pressures. Even most of the modern replica manufacturers advise against high pressure cartridges.

I’m familiar with original and Miroku high and low walls, have had all of them apart at one time or another. Yes, the Miroku versions are nothing more than a cosmetic shell, and are also less user friendly for disassembly and reassembly than originals.
The OP didn’t say if he had a modern or original, and different folks call either/both by the same and/or different names than you or I may use.
