Comments/suggestions -- Atlas BT65-LW17 bipod for a Savage 110

Just picked up a Savage 110 rifle (#57008 Tactical Desert) and am considering getting an Atlas BT65 bipod for the thing.

  • Bipod -- Atlas BT65-LW17 CAL Gen2, with the ADM-170-S lever lock, without the panning feature.
  • Rail -- Atlas BT15 3.35" 1913 BT15 picatinny rail (hole spacing 1.76" - 2.78"), mounted under the foreend of the stock.
  • Screws -- Uncertain about these. Cap screws, 10-32 x 3/4", perhaps? Don't know the exact type, threading/pitch, length, yet. (The rifle has two sling studs, at ~2.5" hole spacing.)

Any caveats, comments, suggestions?

And, does anyone know the specific type of screws (threading, pitch, length) I'd be needing to mount this onto the stock (at the sling stud holes)? Can't imagine there are many issues with the Atlas bipods, but I'm open to any experience with these you might have.

Intended use: occasional varminting, and target shooting out to 600yds.

They are good bipods, I use them on my heavy rifles, I also use several Harris. Unless you are dead set on the Atalas I would save the money and get a Harris on a rifle that light they work great. If you go with the Atlas you will need to get threaded escutcheons and countersink them on the inside of the stock.

Great bipod, Harris is good too. If you get the Harris order the KMW lock nut lever for it. For the rail order one that matches your sling stud hole spacing, I like McMillan 4 inch long one the best but it takes the push button type sling swivel. Seekins rails will work with regular sling types made for swivel studs. Screw are included on some like the McMillan but you will have to shorten the 10-32 screws your self for a custom fit.https://www.brownells.com/shooting-...od-accessories/lock-nut-pod-loc-prod1506.aspx
edit: These should fit 2 1/2 hole spacing and comes with screws.https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1019571883?pid=601384

What a coincidence.I just built Savage 10 243 using that very stock,an accufit. the studs screw directly into an aluminum rail that is very secure. I bought a rail that attaches to the sling stud for cheap on e-bay.

Works perfect for $15
Next question is sitting. prone .
I sit and have a chair backpack deal that keeps my butt off the ground and dry. I am getting a Swagger 42" quick disconnect. Having one that pivots and cants is a must for hunting. I have several different cheap bipods that go on and off the above rail in a snap for bench shooting.
Good luck

Thank you to those who commented on the setup.

Decided to purchase the Atlas BT65-LW17 bipod, with ski feet, the 3.35" rail, and the counter-sunk mounting hardware (#BT1517).

I have Harris and Atlas CAL, Super CAL. I really like the features of the Atlas with quick change feet. Rubber for bench and spikes for dirt. You got ski feet! Oh, that's exciting. I'm still trying to determine if I should load or not load the bipod. Ski feet would be pretty cool for the no load method.

I bought that same rifle in black version few years back.

This 110's bolt action is buttery smooth and the trigger's crisp and decent. Better-than-average standard Savage cocking feel. About the best I've seen, factory-supplied. Going to like this one, I think.

If it shoots as good as mine you will love it. I bought it as a beater rifle to just have fun shooting and not worry about scuffs. Impressed a friend that dislikes savage. 3 inch group at 1k yards with it. It shoots small jagged groups at 100 yards. Im impressed myself.
