Shilen does, at least according to the website, I think Douglas does too

If Stan Taylor at Douglas does it that's where I'd be heading. Shilen's are good, I've had a couple but I'd have to give the Douglas a go. Douglas barrels and Stan have a stellar reputation and have for years.

After my experience, I would avoid those outfits that have a sale every other week.

You get what you pay for.

Still buying X-Caliber and have been very happy with customer service and shooting results!!!

Can't get Douglas to respond to phone calls, no one answers, or email, no responce. Been trying to get a quote on a couple of different things. Its why I have started looking around. They were my first choice as I have a couple of 1917 projects I need barrels for as well. I know everyone is busy.

Savage has been doing
magnums in the small shank for years.

Friend just got a Savage prefit in 284 Win for his hunting rifle from Douglas. Very happy with it!

I got a barrel from Shilen through NSS a few months ago.
Gotta say, i was less than impressed with their bluing.

I wouldn’t buy a take off barrel.

Green mountain and premium blanks.
the two brux 7mm’s I got from him were amazing barrels.

No, Savage HAD been doing ultra magnums on small shank. They quit years ago. They moved on from long action magnums on small shank other than the .300wm to short action magnums on large shank. I wasn't saying you can't do it, I basically said what Smith chambers magnums on small shank actions. If there has been some since it would be because they threw some bastardchild rifle together to get excess parts sold.

I've had good luck/results with X caliber pre-fits, but they have a 12 week + lead time right now. Just received 2 barrels from them, now I need to decide which action(s) I'm gonna do, or get new actions.

I have a couple of Shilen prefits from Northland, a .204 that shoots 1/4" and a 6CM that shoots ELDM factory ammo in the .4's. I think they are running into the same issue as everyone else now. Barrel makers can't keep up with the orders. Once I decide what I want to chamber, I will try the Urban rifleman next. .22-204 or .221FB

last fall I purchased a Zermatt tl3 single shot rb/lp from northland he asked me about a barrel for it the tl3 uses savage small shank, he said shilen had 20 barrels for him right now and one wasn't spoken for and could sell me with only 2week turn around I took it, sent my dummy rounds that day for my desired freebore chambered for 260ai, 30in, 1in dia. 18 days later barrel shipped
