I have a match to go to EVERY Sat & most Sundays for the next 8 months.
My limits are at 4 hr drive one way.

Now it seems that I'll have to go back to covid times of staying home watching the world through the windows.

On the lighter side at least the buildings around me aren't being blown up.

I went on a trip to that side of the world last Oct. I made some friends over there. They told me they are experiencing the bombs and smoke. I couldn't imagine that life.

Heck I've never seen lack groceries in the US like we've seen this year. Kinda upsetting all this stuff happening in my golden years.

We went kid free in 2018, and debt free in 2020. And I just happened to have stocked up on shooting supplies right before covid. We're just thankful we can watch all this knowing that we can get by on the minimum and don't need a lot. Heck, the lights went out for 2 days during an ice storm last month, and we kind of enjoyed it, lol.

You’re lucky to have so many places to enjoy this sport within that four hour drive, i get six weekends total in a calendar year driving four hours and pay motel fees to boot.

Everybody acts surprised this is happening, under sleepy Joe. His administration is Obama supplied and staffed, Russia moved during Obama. When you have anti democracy presidents, communists will thrust the spear. The Constitution makes marxist, communists, and democrats crazy. That's as simple as I can make it.

I solved part of the gas problem for long distance match's.
Two years ago I went up to the Nissan dealer and picked up
a new 5 speed manual 36 mpg Versa. I still like to shuck gears.
And if you can win a little cash from the shoots, well that's
always put back into the tank. Gas here in Erie pa has hit an
all time record of $3.75 When I bought that little tin box, it
was 20 bucks to fill the tank, and now its double that. With
what's going on now in the world, I'll probably see $4.00 fuel
shortly. In the meantime, my truck stays idle.

Unleaded in Eastern Oregon is $3.87 and Diesel is $4.27 I can’t even get a full tank cause they cut me off at $125.00 then have to re-run my card…

Some of you are very Lucky!! I am a IHMSA pistol silhouette shooter. We used to have 7 IHMSA ranges in my state of Mississippi! Now I get to go to 3 matches a year although they are 4 day matches at Oklahoma Gun Club which is 600 miles one way for me. Guess i will keep going if I want to keep shooting!! Allen

I guess i should have known some couldn't resist. This thread isn't a political thread. That stuff is all over the net.

It's about the cost of shooting and what one is willing to do/spend on hobbies. How to manage. Getting new hobbies in the spaces. Holding ones idle hands.

After all we are all ...
LIVING THE DREAM !

I'm doing my Part. It Takes some time & effort. But my Buddies back porch & a fifty-yard impromptu "Range". I'm using homemade cast rifle bullets & punching paper targets. If I'm super stingy I can reload a nice little rifle rd. Really Cheap. Just 3 years ago each cartridge was under 10 cents. Increased primer costs have doubled that number. My next plan is to try to use up a supply of Lg Pistol Primers I have on hand & short doses of some old Red Dot shotgun powder I have laying around. mikeinct

I for one am sorry you must cut back on your enjoyment of the shoot, due to the high price of fuel. Hopefully it will get back to a decent normal, in short time, but it often does not look like that is going to occur.
I feel very fortunate, in that I have plenty of open land and areas to roam, beginning right out by front door, to shoot varmints and plink and/or target shoot, as I desire. So my fuel bill is not effected to the point that I must cut back.
