A . Do you tell her over dinner with the back door open for a quick escape .

B . Just put the machine in the workshop and when she asks about it you tell her have had that for years. Havnt you noticed it

Betcha she can already tell something is amiss. A simple, "hey I bought a new machine, do you want to see it>" may suffice.
Wife came across a receipt for powder on my desk, $368, asked me in the kitchen if I had been buying more gun stuff. "yeah, about $2K worth. You want to see the old rifle and new pistol I bought?"
She was mad for a day. Asked me if I had any regrets, looking for an apology, and was incredulous that I did not.
I replied later while discussing the items purchased, "yeah, i regret buying that powder because I don't really need it."

I'll consider myself lucky. My wife trusts me to manage the finances and do what's best for everyone. If I buy it, she doesn't think twice, and supports it.

As a general rule, I don't lie, and definitely wouldn't lie to her.

Everyone is a saint on the forums, LOL. A rule I follow as a gun dealer is to never discuss the purchases of my clients in front of their spouses. I let them bring it up when I meet them out and about in the community.

I show her the box/crate/shipping container and tell her I brought it home so she would have a place to store her material for her sewing projects or shoes left by the door.

Worked pretty good until I came home one night and one was in the yard with my sleeping bag rolled out in it.

We have a mutual don't ask, don't tell, trust policy. Been working that way for close to 40 years.
