1/4 mi = 160 ac
1 mi = 640 ac

Example: Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley, Calif. It's a tad over 600ac for the spot.

1/4 of a square mile = 160ac

1/4mi x 1/4 mi = 40 ac.

At extended ranges the 140 eld performs well on deer sized game. The eldx is just a little tougher. Fyi you can get 2900 ish with R 26 and a 26” barrel. 3000 is probably doable the brass just wont last.

The FPS was measured at the target (1000 yds) by a doppler radar setup.
The load was 40.5 gr, H4350, CCI #41, Starline case for all three tests.
All tests and recording were done on the same day and same rifle.

It is my impression that the increase in FPS was due to the higher BC of each bullet.

OK, newbee here but I do understand math. Ask yourself how many 1/4 mile square sections you'll find in a square mile? Hint: 16
Now divide your 640 acre by 16 and you get 40.

How did the Match hpbt compare to the ELD on accuracy?

All three gave me 1 MOA, (except the #6 shot which I pulled badly) just at different spots on the target.

I have found that I can get a sub 1 MOA group with the HPBT, 105 gr, Match's. I have been using them for 3 years and have had great groups from them.

One of the shooters had some A Max and claimed they didn't shoot for s#!t in his gun and sold me 800 for $10.00 a box. Well at that cost I could not say no. I found that they also shoot sub 1 MOA groups in my gun.

I thought I would try the ELD's and my gun also likes them.

I have not found anything that beats the Hornady 135 gr. A-Tips in 6.5 CM. I am shooting them through a Hawk Hill Customs barrel on a Savage model 10 action. I think that they would be “over kill” for most hunting but they are incredibly consistent in target shooting. Yes, I know they are expensive but when I consider all of my other expenses in gear and reloading supplies the extra $100 they cost me in a typical year is worth it to me (compared to Bergers).

You do not want to hunt with that bullet. I have shot it into a sand pile and it disappeared. It obviously did not open at all and penetrated farther than we wanted to dig. They are expensive and not realistic for common shooters/hunters.

I'm going to use, the 143 ELD-X for Deer, Antelope and possibly CLOSE Range Elk ( under 400 Yards )
and the 123 ELD-M for coyotes and playing on steel as low recoil, for everything else.

Bought a savage factory take-off barrel from NSS earlier this year, it shoots pretty good. I am it using for 600 and 1000 yd target shooting and deer on open 40 acre field. Started of with hornady 140 hpbt match, they did very well but not very fast so a good bit of drop. Switch to 130 eld match which have about the same bc but are much faster, almost 3000 fps so they hold up better. Want to try 130 sierra gamechanger or berger eld, any of you use those.

If the bullet you are using is working keep using it, gravity is constant wind is the problem. If you want faster the 130 vld works fine.

My two favorite bullets for the 6.5 CM are the Berger 130gr AR Hybrid OTM Tactical, and the Hornady 129gr SST.

Not that the Creedmoor has a lot of recoil anyway, but it would be fun to find a medium speed load with this bullet and H4895.

The Creed performs well with several different weights. I use 140+, due to the fact that it handles them well. I save the lighter stuff for my .260, as it is easier to load the 130-class bullets, than the heavies.

I am shooting up, my Dad's, old, OLD Bruce Hogdon's, H-4895 right now from, the Mid 1950's,.. LOL !
Still smells "good" and shoots, Sub 3/4 MOA with, 35.5 grains of it at, 2.760" COAL with, the 123 ELD-M's !
I'm too cheap, to spread it, on the Lawn ! Cost was, $50 cents a Pound back then and I used it, to Kill Deer in my .30-06 with 150 grainers, when I was, a Boy ( mid 1960's ) I still have, Hogdon's OLD Paper, Reloading Booklet's to, go by and approx., 4 Pounds of this, OLD Chit for, the FUN, load !
Haven't Chrono'ed it yet (guessing, 2,700 FPS ) but, "good enough" for, Fire Forming my New 6.5 Peterson Brass and an occasional, Coyote or Rock Chuck to, 400 yards or, so! Sierra HAS, Data for, the New H-4895 and THEIR Bullets.
I will be working with, Hornadys 143 ELD-X's and Staball 65 for my Big Game Load, Next.
