Pacific Tool and Gauge - new rimfire actions

Disappointing. I have now been told - by an individual here - that the PTG RF repeater action uses the large format monstrosity of a magazine so, to me, it's a moot point anyway.

I'm guessing you're referring to the V-22 magazines? To those of us who shoot any of the PRS-type or NRL22 matches with our 22RF repeaters, those mags are far-and-away the superior way to go. Usually, guys who don't like the large 22RF mags that Vudoo, RimX, & Bergera all use don't seem to realize that the large mag format was designed from the start to address issues that competition shooters have while trying to make quick mag changes with traditional small format 22RF magazines. I can change mags in my V-22s just as quickly as I can with any of my CF PRS comp rifles.

For someone looking for a rifle using the smaller traditional magazines like the Savage 10rd mags, but want a custom action, there's Jerry Stiller's 2500XR action, though I'm not sure he's still making them. I built myself a repeater as a 22RF trainer back in early 2016 on one of the XR actions, and it was an excellent action. I had no feeding or extraction/ejection issues with mine, although a friend with a similar rifle had no end of extraction/ejection issues with his, even after getting a good deal of help from Stiller's shop. I liked everything about the one I built except when trying to make quick mag changes - there's a formed metal chute that holds the Savage 10rd mags, and the bottom of this chute doesn't protrude from the bottom of the stock, so you've got to fiddle around trying to hit the chute with a fresh mag. No problem if you want to break position and turn the rifle so you can see the chute, but a genuine PITA when you're shooting a course of fire with tight time limits.

I actually don’t have it in hand yet. Must be the Christmas traffic. Should have been here by now under ordinary conditions. I will post when I finish the project

Well I should of sold you my Anschutz with the itty bitty magazine. PITA. I love the Vudoo with the oversize mag. Load up four and rock N roll.

The lone stars were a basic 40x clone made by Jerry.
I had one several years ago when he first brought them out and it shot great with a standard bore, 4 groove Lilja.
They can be made into shooters with the right smith.

I have one of the new PTG actions in route to my shop. I’ll be barreling testing and evaluating very shortly! I’ll post my findings!

My centerfire 22lr action is sitting at my dealer right now. I’ll be picking it up this week

Just out of curiosity, how did your order a centerfire bolt? Did not see it on the PTG webpage. Or is the centerfire bolt sourced elsewhere? Sorry if i missed something…

I have the first new for Remington PTG 40x repeater action in my shop. I’ve barreled it and as soon as the weather gets a bit better I’ll be shooting it. I can’t really say to much more about it at this time but I will as things progress

Could you post a pic of it Lee ? Are you happy with the fit and finish?
