Primers?

Okay guys . Pay attention , take notes , cause there'll be a quiz later . To my knowledge , and everything I've read on the subject for the last five years , it comes down to this . Between King Barrack and Obi-DUMB , there are currently no primers being imported into the U.S. , except Ginex , to some outlets . King Barack took care of the Mag-Tek ( Brazil ) , S&B , and most of the Russian primers . While Obi-Dumb finished it off with his Import Ban for "Natl. Security issues . What-ever that means . To the Anti-gun Dem-tards ; It means "THEY" restricted something to hurt gun owners and shooters , so it was good . In their eyes , and small brains . Guess these Brain-iacs don't understand that when the Govt. is powerful enough to give them everything ..... It's also powerful enough to take everything away , too . And sadly ; There is no reasoning with these Fanatics , either . Long and short of it all ? There are virtually NO IMPORT primers coming to the U.S. now . Any import primers you find available will have come from "Re-discovered " stock that was misplaced , or held back .
Can't resist.
What did emperor Trump do after Barrack?

Exactly. People forget what Reagan pulled around 1968,69 when he was governor of California. Daddy Bush stopped importation of sks and ak rifles and imported ammo. A lot of politicians had a chance to reverse that but turned a blind eye to it. Bottom line is they work other interests than us. Were small potatoes to them.

Not sure what you mean by all primers and powder imported? My Hodgdon powders all say made in the USA. My CCI, Federal, Winchester primers all say made in the USA. Are you talking about the raw material to make powders and primers?

The only Hodgdon and IMR powders that are made in the US are 'spherical' grades such as CFE-223, B(LC)-2 etc which come out of the General Dynamics St. Marks plant in Florida. The 'Extreme' tubular grades are all made by Thales / ADI in Mulwala, New South Wales, Australia. Before that, they were supplied by ICI Nobel Ltd. in Scotland after Hodgdon ran out of WW2 surplus DuPont powders, albeit that predates the 'extreme' technology. (They are imported in bulk lots to the US and are tested, bottled and marketed in Kansas.)

Most IMRs are made in General Dynamics Valleyfield plant in Quebec Province, Canada. A couple including 8208-XBR are Australian ADI products though.

The situation is the same for other 'American makes'. All Alliant 'Reloder' grades are imported, mostly from Eurenco Bofors in Karlskoga, Sweden, a minority from Nitrochemie Wimmins AG in Switzerland. Only the Power-Pro ball grades are US from Gen Dynamics, St. Marks.

Western Powders come variously from St. Marks (most 'Accurate' brand ball powders), Eurenco P B Clermont in Belgium (Ramshot grades), or Gen Dynamics Valleyfield, Canada (tubular 'Accurate' grades).

Shooters World rifle powders (ball and tubular) originate in Explosia AS's plants in the Czech Republic (relabelled European 'Lovex' brand products).

I can't give you a fair answer to your question ,. I followed the issue closely , regarding primers , and saw nothing "Emperor Trump" , ( Your words , Not Mine ) did to affect the primer situation . If He did take some action I'm not aware of , maybe you'd like to enlighten all of us .

Who uses imports anyway? CCI, Federal, Remington are all made here. Imports were a tiny fraction of the market and likely even smaller for the types of shooters represented here.

(PS: try finding US powder in Europe)
Many , many of the Top Shooters were using Russian primers as their "Go-To" in F-class when I came into the sport , and they were lamenting the possibility of having them taken away by a Over-reaching Govt. at that time . Then it happened , and Russian primers became like gold , to those who used them . I developed my loads using S&B primers because I had read Laurie's articles regarding primers , and the consistency of the primer . It was ranked as one of the best through-out the world . And S&B wasn't a Company that was a anti-American entity . With a Corporate office in Minnesota , and importing scads of ammo and primers to the U.S. . After Obozzo cut off the S&B imports of primers , I switched to Remington 7-1/2 BR's and we all know what happened then . So Yes ; to answer your question , Some of us do use them "Them Thar" foreign primers , and were happy with them , and when FORCED to buy "Murican" , had them subtracted from the market also . By poor Corporate Management . I've managed to build up a stock of Rem's to last for a couple years , at which time , they'll hopefully be on the shelves again . Or better yet ; Maybe our new Administration in 2024 will over-turn some of the anti-gun EO's the current Emperor has put in place .

I really don't know what Trump did or didn't do. All I know is that, during and after his term, there were/are no imported primers available.

You'll have to talk to Barrack about that . It started in the middle of his second term .

Pointing out the shortcomings of Trump or Bush or Reagan when we all know what the alternatives were is tantamount to defending their opponents. Otherwise, why bring it up in a technical forum and then claim you didn't know the details after all?

Are you really going to try and convince anyone that their opposition was pro-2A? in the reloading forum?

None of us were happy when they let us down on those occasions. Does that imply we should have voted the other way and those alternatives would have been better?

It might be a better outcome for all of us, if we keep the technical forums technical and leave the political editorials in the General Forum. Even the poorly referenced economics, legal, Import/Export, treaty, ITAR, etc., guesswork is becoming counterproductive for a reloading tech forum.

Seriously, if you cannot call yourself at least an amateur economist, lawyer, or historian, why discuss it here?

You must acknowledge that we don't get to pick our politicians a-la carte. Once they are in, you get them and all their baggage, which includes the party platform they claimed to represent. Few of them or their parties have ever delivered on promises 100%. But is there really a great mystery to the two choices here?

Just my guess, but defending candidates and party platforms that are on the record anti-2A in a 2A forum isn't going to end well for any of us.

Maybe everyone should count to ten and drop back to venting about their costs and political theories in the General Forum and leave the reloading section as a technical forum? YMMV
