20VT Suggestion

I’m doing a 20VT for my son with an 11 twist barrel and will probably start out with H4198 and Hornady 32gr bullets. Any advice on powder charges or maybe another powder to try? Thanks FINALLY GOT IT DONE!!!

I’d have to check but I’m pretty sure I’m shooting 32gr Vmax with that exact charge. Bugholes.

Wow you just opened up a can of worms. There are so many good choices including the ones already mentioned. I really like the RL 7 but after testing CFE BLK, I'm not sure I will go back to the RL 7. 2200 is also really really good stuff with the 40 grain bullets.

AA2200 works very well in the 20 VT.

20.2 gr IMR8208 with 32gr Vmax works well for me in 11twist

I have a Cooper 21 and 18.0 grains of H4198 under a 32 grain V-Max produces excellent accuracy and is deadly on woodchucks.

I think 18.6 H4198 w/ 32's but with an 11 twist you might want to try 39 or 40 grainers with 17.8 gr H4198. They will do a little better in the wind.

I would want a good supply of brass and primers. All I know about the VT it isn’t picky.

I get almost identical speed and accuracy out of RL-7 and N120 with the 32 V-Max. Takes about 5% more RL-7 (a good thing because it's cheaper).

Benchmark should yield good results, x-terminator.

Benchmark is just too slow, can't get enough in the case, not near enough velocity. Great for .223

varmintshooter posted this load a few years ago and it turned out to be my best load with the 39's. Easily shoots in the 2's and 3's.
