AutoTrickler V4

Received mine yesterday, set it up this morning. So much quieter than the v3.

I need to work with the settings when I get home as it is slower and not as precise as the v3 was yet.

In the same boat, this is my first Autotrickler setup, haven’t had one previous to this. Definitely hoping to see better accuracy tonight than last night. I’m sure it’s a setting that needs adjusted.

Don’t stress. Just follow the information here. This was my first autothrow also. I have had the scale and AutoTrickler for several years. Take your time and play with the settings and the tilt of your scale. Once you get the tilt of the scale right, the rest woks like a charm.

Exactly right Rushty....This is way better than the V3....in so many ways.
The best one is the changing of the powder weight on the fly, unlike the V3.
Everything through the App is better than sliced bread.....but I said that about the V3 too....
just diggin the hell out of the ease of this ... and the double cup is what I always used.
Yep...no Con's with this at all.

Has anyone messed with the "transition weight" setting at all? It takes some trial and error, but messing with it tonight I found it can speed things up a bit.

The A&D does drift, but it's not very much and likely due to changes in temperature. That and because it only reads to .02 and kernels vary in weight, it can for back and forth a little on the final weight.

Has anyone figured out a way to save “calibration” settings for a given powder?
I switch from Varget and h4895 which seem to work with same calibration but that calibration does not work when I use h4350 or h4831sc. I usually just sit through the calibration sequence when I change powders other than that it seems as quick as the v3 with less over/under throws.

^^ same. I just go to settings and manually change them.
Named, saved settings is hopefully on the horizon.

You will need to calibrate for each new powder...but really how long does that take...
are we not getting a stellar product here with the V4...?
Just think back before the Autotrickler...how was your app working then.??lol

Does the A&D FX_120i scale drift like other electronic scales.

Electro Magnetic interference, air currents, wide temperature changes all can cause drift. My Tripp-Lite line conditioner solved all issues with drift from EM. Be sure to use LED bulbs not floresent tubes and protect scales from air currents and you will rock. I am still on the fence on V4 as my V3 is working perfectly and a vast improvement over V2. Adam and his company are The Man.

There are essentially 2 types of electronic balances used by handloaders: strain guage and magnetic force restoration (MFR). All the cheap (and not so cheap) electronic balances are of the strain guage variety. The A&D FX-120 is an MFR type. I believe it's the least expensive of such types, even with its price tag.

The MFR types are not subject to drifting like the strain types because of their design. However, that said, the FX-120 is extremely sensitive and it will be affected by the slightest air current, evil thought, sneeze, and even dirty looks. The V4 allows you to close 3 of the 4 sides to cut down on air currents. It's also a good idea to have clean power and yes, banish those wicked fluorescent lights to the nearest dumpster. My FX-120 is not affected by nearby smartphones, Wi-Fi repeaters, and Bluetooth devices.
