6.5 rem mag loads with 127gr lrx and rl 26

Looking to see if anybody has any experience with these two components it's what I used in my prc was curious if I would be able to do the same in the rem

My rifle is a custom 6.5 rem mag in a long action husqvarna with ron smith gaim twist barrel I think I would be safe to load the same load?

The 6.5 Rem Mag case has a smaller capacity. The same combination may work well but the 6.5 RM will max out at a lot lower powder charge (like 10+% less). Back it way off and work up. I WOULD NOT try the same powder charge!!

I would think that perhaps RL23 might be a better powder considering the reduced case capacity from the PRC.

I already told you what to do and where to start on the other thread so not sure why you are starting a whole new thread? Start at 57gr with RL26 and work up in .02-.03gr increments.

You don’t even mention the charge weight you were using in your PRC so how the heck would anyone know if that’s safe in the 6.5 RM???

I’ve been shooting multiple custom 6.5 Rem Mags and hand loading for them with different bullets for over 16 years. Have developed many safe loads from scratch using new powders not listed anywhere and killed countless big game animals with that round here in Montana. There are very few people out there with any “real world” experience using the 6.5 RM so take my advice or leave it. It is an amazingly efficient round that will run side by side with larger cases at the same speeds or even faster, yet do it all while burning less powder than the bigger cases.

My dad has had a model 700 bdl since as long as I can remeber I've seen it do some pretty remarkable things lol I never thought thatd I'd one day have my own with out building it but I lucked out pretty good and traded a weatherby vanguard 257 wby for it is a husqvarna long action in a beautiful husqvarna stock with the black tip and black pistol grip in dark walnut and it has a 23.5 in stainless ron Smith gain twist barrel
