Ok. Powder and primers, I get it. My inability to find Berger 115’s. kind of get it. (There is plenty of copper, so I wonder why). But now I cannot find any JB blue label non embedding compound. Sold out everywhere….. Why on earth

The barrel makers highly encourage valve grinding compound instead of diatomaceous earth. Use it on a brush spun by a drill to make them even happier

Desperate times .... "long-haul" shortage mentality:

I was going to buy a quality barrel, BUT I had to pay 2x-3x price for bullets. Now, I'm broke and definitely pissed at the idea of another 6-12mos delay for my barrel!!! Hmmm - I can buy a cheap barrel that is currently available, and then DIY polish it to mirror smooth.

There is a learning curve. You can't polish a Turd and expect Gold. That only works on a magic lamp.

Sorry, I'm not knowledgeable enough about the effect of grit size/hardness on barrel steel to know whether that's in jest.

I have seen what 120 and 220 files do. Wouldn't 180 be a real no no for a bore?
