I was recently informed by NRA that the 2022 F-Class Nationals will be held in Phoenix at the Ben Avery Range October 15-23, 2022. No further details at this time.

Just an FYI for those who might need advance notice for planning purposes.

Can you confirm? Until I see it in writing from someone with authority to speak on the topic, it's unofficial. I was just passing on what I was told... I have seen no official announcement from NRA or from Desert Sharpshooters.

Just trying to be helpful to those who might have to "bid" for vacation time at their jobs - some employers make their employees bid for vacation time at the beginning of each year - that sucks, but that's the way it is at some jobs...

Maybe someone from NRA reading this can confirm?

Taking into consideration last years turn out, if it is the goal of the NRA to kill F Class Nationals, Atterbury would be the tool to use.

Heaven forbid I'm not going to try to defend the NRA's decisions of late regarding ... well, anything, but I don't think last yr was a good standard to use.

Why wouldn't the NRA do this? They do it for all other disciplines.

I don’t know about Nationals staying at Atterbury but at least during the competitors meeting they were talking about making many improvements to the range to include a backstop.

I attended about a half dozen of those "competitors meetings" until I figured out it was blah blah blah and the nra responding with blah blah blah and nothing ever changed or happened and the nra never listened. A bankrupt organization pouring money into improvements on a National Guard base? Yeah, that's one of the best yet.

If I remember correctly from this year’s meeting the state of Indiana would help out funding the range improvements

I'm going to go with Dean on this one: We have been promised a lot of things over the years and somehow, they fail to materialize. I'm sure the people who make these promises actually believe in them and are well intentioned.

All this to say we have been around the block a few times, but speaking for myself here, I'm always hopeful that something may happen but I am not putting any money on that.

That said, I had a great time at Atterburry, but those little platforms in the pits scared the sh*t out of this old man and I'm under no delusion that I will get younger.

I’ve enjoyed the nationals moving around and getting to shoot different ranges. If they ever decide to keep it at one place, I would certainly vote for Raton. Phoenix is nice, but they always hold it during hunting season.

You gotta kill two birds with one stone....July in Atterbury you can hunt shade and water.

I can confirm that the Nationals will be in Phoenix next October. Or at least the NRA has told us we are holding the Nationals, and we have booked the Ben Avery Shooting Facility for the Nationals.

Who would hold it in Raton?
