Where can I find some RL-15.5

Alliant powders seem to be one of the harder to find powders.
Just seen it twice @ PV both within a week and nothing since. (month or two ago)
Probably on a container ship.

The Reloader 15.5 is probably hiding in the same place as H4198.
I'm thinkin' H4198 is on a boat at anchor off the California
coast, and R-15.5 off the east coast. Maybe we could hire
some Somali pirates......

I seen new ship rules were posted. All inbounds must anchor
150 miles off shore, and then notified when a dock is open.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but just curious what calibers you guys that obtained some are using it in. I won an 8 pounder at this year's Williamsport World Open. Has anybody tried it in a Dasher or a BRA?
I lucked onto a pound of it then did some horse trading. My buddy
shoots Ridgway, and needed it for testing on a new Dasher barrel.
I walked away with a pile of BR2 primers. It was a good day for both.
As of last week the barrel and action was not finished. I'll post up any
results when I hear back.

Much appreciated. :)

It is solid in a Dasher.
I will try and get more the next time it is available.

It is terrific in the Dasher. I shot 33.4 gr. of RL-15.5 behind a 105 Hybrid at the TSRA Midrange Championship and every point I dropped was a wind call - 9 o'clock or 3 o'clock. That load shot a table top waterline.

There is an opportunist selling it for $100 a pound shipped on GB. It does pay to be in the right place at the right time. A place I rarely seem to find myself in. Hopefully, by the time comfortable shooting weather returns to MN, in 5 months, it will be a little more accessible. I know, dream on...

I ran some preliminary tests in .223 with moly coated 75 gr Hornady BTHPs. It's not quite as dense as VV N-550 (my go-to powder) - a case full to the base of the neck (6"drop tube, swirl charging) is 26 gr vs 27 gr for N-550. The velocity from a 28" barrel is ~50 fps higher for a full charge of RL-15.5. I plan to back off to the usual velocity and test for accuracy. I had no pressure signs with the full case of RL-15.5, so there is room to work up a load. N-550 isn't temperature stable, so I expect loads with RL-15.5 will stay in tune better. I'm cautiously optimistic that RL-15.5 will replace N-550 in my applications. I'm watching for the availability of 8 lb jugs.

I've tried it in my service rifle. 25.6 grains under an 80gr bullet is good for 2825 fps. Very accurate load. Here's my results at 600 yards

Seen it twice at PV. 1 pounders only. Was able to get 4 last time it popped up. Keep your eyes open. It’s overdue to show up again.
