Central Texas Mid-Range Match Announcement (Service, F Class, Tact prone)!

!!! January 15, 2022 match is cancelled due to forecast of high winds with gusts over 45 mph, along with low temperatures in the 30's. !!!

Next scheduled match will be February 19, 2022.
---------------------------------

Temple Gun Club, Temple Texas, will begin hosting a monthly 500 yd (4x20) Mid Range match to utilize the fantastic range improvements made over the past 18 months. The inaugural match will be this upcoming Saturday, October 16th. This match will be held monthly on the third Saturday of each month. This is an open, Club match at 500 yards. CMP mid range rules will govern and include Service Rifle, Match Rifle, F Class, & Tactical prone disciplines, as well as open to any/any as an introductory match. We will be using "Shot Marker" electronic target scoring on MR-65 targets with shot marker adjustments for F Class targets. Participants should bring a wireless capable i-Pad, smart phone, or like device to spot and score. Arrival for range setup begins at 0730 with competition to begin at approximately 0830. As a club match, we will be shooting 4 (4x20) record fire stages, so shooters should bring a minimum of 91 rounds for spotters and record fire to complete the full course of fire.

Hope to see folks at the firing line. Of note: Temple Gun Club "facilities" are rustic in nature. Competitors should bring necessary 'life support' such as water, snacks, sun block, sun shades (if desired). There is a Buc-ees travel stop approximately 2 miles away from the club to obtain necessities.

Note: CMP Sanctioning is under consideration, however this Match will remain a Club Match as we start it up.

How many firing points?
I believe we can support up to 14 firing points. However, based upon turn out this may be the first time that all targets will be operating simultaneously. So, maybe a little longer on the front end Saturday a.m.

I hear they need to figure how to switch table to FClass target. Now shooting with sling target scoring.

Planning on holding these going forward? I see all the other TGC matches on Practiscore but not this.
We do not load these matches & scores in Practiscore. It is a club match only, not sanctioned or scores reported to either NRA or CMP. This gives us greater flexibility to serve multiple disciplines and participants who wish to use this time to shoot at 500 yards. We use CMP rules to govern and run the match.

The Shot Marker system supports changing the target type to F Class MR-65F. However, the actual target facers used in the TGC match are MR-65. We will look to obtain MR-65 F, F Class targets if we begin to have greater turn out from F Class shooters.

The October 16 match went very well. We had a turnout of 8 competitors. A learning curve with the Shot Marker individual user interface, but the system worked flawlessly. Set up was easy. Conduct of fire and clean up was complete shortly after 11 a.m. Overall a great first effort.

The next TGC 500 4x20 Mid Range match will be held on November 20th.

Of note: the Club is also holding a new member orientation and for HP shooters that wish to become members. This may have limited impact on the match. For Texas NRA & CMP shooters with current qualifications who may wish to become members, please PM me and I will forward the information to you.

FYI - the aiming black is the same size. So that is not a factor.

There will be about 3 of us TR shooters coming Saturday and will bring some target faces.
That's fantastic! It will greatly help our F Class growth. Looking forward to having you there. PM me should you have any questions about the range/club.

Same start time as before? Also all I have is a PRS rifle, since it's a club match ok to run a brake in F Class for this?

Hi G, same start time for set up at 0730. You may use your PRS rifle with muzzle brake, however, I would ask you to bring a shield or board if possible to deflect overpressure. We will put you on an outside firing point. Glad you are planning on coming.

I'll be out there with the other FTR guys on Saturday. I'm excited to shoot at another match that's relatively close to Austin.

I know Otis mentioned bringing 600 yard target faces for us F-Class guys; please let us know if there's anything else we could bring that would help the match/match director out.

Even though Temple might not be our home range, I think we're all interested in helping make this a successful/strong program. :)
