The 20 Practical is here ...

Finally. CZ 527 - 223 donated the action. Lilja made the 1-11", 3-groove barrel. Stock is B&C. The scope I took off the original went on. No time to get/fit anything else.
My GS, Mike Young, did the awesome work he does for me in record time. He also took the hump off the bolt.
She arrived the afternoon before I left for WY. So I quickly made 50 rounds with a mild load, 32 Vmax with 26 gn of TAC behind it.
Will report back when back home.

This Lilja barrel is copper fouling really bad. On the fourth shot (I know shoot-clean three times, then ...) I got a hard bolt lift, on the fifth stuck case - Ouch. Twenty patches and four brushings first series with BT Eliminator and then with Cu 2+ and blue was still coming out.

I never had a chance to shoot it before coming to WY. The PD were barking. anyway, after cleaning I shot three more rounds, no issues. Decided to stop and go home to see where the fouling is occurring.

Amazingly, the scope was right on (min of PD) out to 300 yards even though it was on the 223 barrel of the same action.

Will report back in a few days.

Cheers.

Looks like a nice rig! I have an AR upper 20P, I've thought eventually I'd love to do what you just did, a nicely configured bolt rifle. I'll be looking forward to what you figure out with the barrel and fouling.

Great looking rifle and great round. I built on a few years ago and really enjoyed it. 39gr BlitzKings were it's favorite pill.

What does the fired primers look like ?

On some rifles there is a gap between the firing pin and the hole in the bolt face. If it is larger enough the primer can to flow into it. A gunsmith can drill out the bolt face and put in a bushing to get things tighter.

Thanks. I seem to recall LRI doing this. Is it dangerous to have this gap or simply ugly.
