You probably shouldn't be using powder that you aren't sure what it is, because you don't know what it is, not because it's degraded.What do you suggest as a reasonable test protocol?

I didn't say "it cant happen" I said I have not seen it happen.Don't say it cannot happen in a plastic container. This was in this bottle for a couple years maybe.

By volume, new powder is heavier.
Outgassing is the release of trapped gas or vapor that was previously dissolved, trapped, frozen, or absorbed in the solid. Outgassing can include sublimation and evaporation which are phase transitions of a substance into a gas, as well as desorption.
Let hope your next powder purchase is not sitting off the California coast, in a HOT container ship.
