Thanks Paul for shutting it down and changing my password! I use the same password, or I should say I use to use the same password for multiple forums that deal with multiple subjects. I signed up for a new forum at 8pm Wednesday and was hacked at 9:38pm. I was traveling yesterday and got emails from the forum boss advising that I had been hacked and the password changed. Called the forum boss this morning and got it back up and running. So, many thanks for that!

On another note, talking to Paul reminded me of the many hours it takes to make this forum run. I felt bad he had to take time out of his already busy day to deal with something on my behalf. It reminded me how much I enjoy this forum and the wealth of information I have gained here along with the many good people I have met. A true community of like minded people. I hope he offers a platinum membership at some point, I know there are many of us who would opt for it straight away. It really is a labor of love, 2 days off in 2021 is crazy. In the mean time I’ll make a donation today as a token of appreciation for the help.

I'm new to cell phones ( probably always will be)
I was able to get on this site the first time and it asked if I wanted my sign in saved. I did. And it did. Last week I have to sign in each time and I see no option to save it.
This is not a big deal but is it a sign of something happening beyond my ineptness?

In light of all this happening I just changed my password . I've never sold anything here , but have made one purchase from another member with zero issues , and was pleased with the Seller , Tod Hendricks and the whole transaction. But I am grateful for all the time , effort and vigilance put in by the "Boss" to keep this site squared away , and Tight .

We had another example yesterday. It turns out a Gold member’s account was hacked here one hour after he registered for the LongRangeOnly Forum using the same Forum name and password he uses here.

That‘s not conclusive, but it is certainly highly suspicious. You should have a different password for each Forum.

Another feature the Boss has available to us members is 2FA (2 Factor Authentication) for our accounts. This is the best thing you can do to protect your account. It requires you to complete an additional step to get logged in. Even if your username/password is compromised by a bad guy. They will not be able to get into your account without completing the 2FA process. This is similar to what you guys already have on Amazon/Google/Banks/Etc. After you enter your username/password you receive a "One Time" code/password (OTP). This code will be unique and only work for a short time. This stops most bad guys cold.

I could happily post my username and password in this thread and a bad guy could still not log in as me.
