USPS to Canada Post Question

This isnt a USPS rant.

I was wondering if anyone knew what the last facilities the packages get sent to before being handed over to customs to come into Canada? How many facilities do they have that do this handover?

Canada Post is about the worst there is in the world. Once a package crosses the US-Canada border it goes in to storage. It is where all tracking ends. There is a joke about them in that 90% of their charges are for storage.
I'm from Nova Scotia so no prejudice. Just stating the worst there is. No Saturday deliveries, no home delivery at all, and I think they are the highest paid postal workers in the world. As for the Maritime Provinces....well Ottawa couldn't care less.

The home delivery depends on your area i think.

Im in NB and all my package come to my back door and im in the country . As far as being slow once it gets handed over to CP it can be. My last package from Harrells was just little over a week from the time they shipped till i got it, which was quicker than i can get something from Ontario. Now my experience is if anything land in the Quebec sorting facility it could be there a while. Also if CBSA decides to inspect something from the US i could be there a while.

Placed several orders from the US in the last months and had no problem with either USPS or Canada post Had the packages in under 2 weeks. JME

Mail will go through one of 11 International Service Centers just prior to arriving in Canada. Most likely Chicago. Unfortunately one of the worst run plants in the US.

I don’t know the exact answer but I do have a package coming from Tenebraex (Halifax, NC) and it landed in East Syracuse, NY. Couldn’t tell you if that is the main facility for incoming/outgoing parcels to & from Canada or not. Tracking says I’m supposed to have it by the Sept 30th.

Well, looks like nothing has changed. Ordered an item from Winnipeg on. It was dropped of by shipper on the 16th and never shown accepted in the Winnipeg office for 3 days. Since then it’s only shown 3 updates none of which show movement from Canada (Im in Vermont, USA). Delivery date has shifted 3 times and currently shows today (week late) but as last update shows in Canada I’m guessing it will move again. They have. No real way to contact them and not get canned responses so no way to tell if package lost or not. I contacted seller (retailer) and they just laughed and indicated Canada Post is probably worst postal service that could ever be imagined and the go vermont refuses to acknowledge the problem. They will not put in a lost package coverage until at least 30 days from ship date as the service to the states is that bad…. I have since found out that UPS shipping was available If you order from Canada, ask if that’s an option!!
Will never rely on Canada Post again.

Received a package from Ontario. (pellet stove part) Didn't fit so I shipped it back. USPS Import papers to Canada wanted to know the value. ($200.00)
Got there but was told there was a $42.00 charge to pick it up. (tax??)
I'll know next time.

Sent a rest top to Alberta 8 days ago. It was in Toronto yesterday and to an unknown facility in Canada.
Mailed another to Ontario the next day and this morning it is at an unknown facility in Canada.
I ship quite a bit to Canada, but no trouble but long waits.
