Planning out Dasher build

Gonna start with a 10+ year old proven, trued 700 receiver. Presently a half moa gun in 6.5 CM.

26" Barrlein with no brake so F class is open to me. 1 in 7.5 twist??? TBD. Cut rifling. 105 -115 gr boolits. Varget seems to be a proven powder in Dasher.

Builder is using a reamer designed for Lapua brass. I'm not finding any of that but it should come back around. As I understand it Peterson brass will work for this reamer without turning necks and without need for hydro forming. Correct me if I'm wrong here...

MPA chassis in Titanium, Trigger Tech happy switch. NF NXS scope.

600, 1000 gun.

LE Wilson bullet seater, Redding sizer.

Using our brass (Alpha Munitions) you want to use a larger neck diameter. I personally recommend a .273 deck diameter, specially if you are shooting a lot of matches in dirty/sandy/gritty/wet areas. If you are neck turning then you can run .271 and under. For the 105 hybrid a FB of .105 is perfect. Overall length for the case should be 1.555, the longer length of 1.57 is for the norma dasher designed brass with the longer neck. run the angle at 1.5 deg and .2440 diameter. I would not decide on what brass I was going to use based on the reamer my gunsmith has on hand. I would make the decision based on what "brass" I want to use. The cost of a new reamer is irrelevant in the long run. In addition I would ask on here of the guys using Peterson Dasher brass what neck they recommend for a no-turn if that is what you're looking for. Lots of threads on Alpha, Peterson & Lapua brass for a Dasher.

Featuring a 40-degree Ackley-type shoulder and 10 percent more case capacity over the parent 6mm BR case, the 6mm Dasher has been used to set records in the 600 and 1,000-yard benchrest community, and has become a favorite among competitors in the Precision Rifle Series as well.

“The PRS community and the long-range benchrest guys are groups that are important to us” stated Peterson Cartridge president Derek Peterson. “We already make most of the common PRS cartridges, so the 6mm Dasher was naturally next in line for those guys looking to compete with a long-range 6mm, with minimal recoil. The 6 Dasher is one of those cartridges that packs a ton of power and performance in a tiny package, and we decided to make them based on requests from our friends in these disciplines” Peterson said.

The 6 Dasher made by Peterson are offered in Small Rifle Primer (SRP) pocket size only. They have a .060” flash hole diameter, same as Lapua’s small rifle primer pockets. They will require a small de-capping pin, just like Peterson’s 6 BR casings. There is no SAAMI or CIP spec for 6mm Dasher. So, the caliber development guys at Peterson had to decide which dimensions they were going to make their casings to.

Regarding Length-To-Shoulder (LTS), Peterson consulted the Sierra, Berger and Lyman reloading manuals and designed the Peterson 6 Dasher casings to comply with the guidance from all three manuals

Regarding Overall Length (OAL), Peterson researched all the popular chamber reamer sizes, and decided to make its casings with an OAL of 1.53” + or - .0005, so they’ll fit in the common 6 Dasher chambers. The base diameter of Peterson 6 Dasher is the same as the base diameter of its 6 BR casings. Plus, these Dashers have the correct neck wall thickness of .0013”.

Peterson concluded, “No more need to fireform or hydroform 6BRs. Now you can get properly headstamped 6mm Dasher, with the ideal neck wall thickness and harder heads than the other competitors.”
 
The term fire-forming is used on this forum "loosely". The process described by Sierra is taking a parent cartridge case and fire-forming to a new one (ie Laupa 6BR case to Dasher, Hornet to K-Hornet, 218 Bee to Mashburn Bee, etc).
You'll have discussions here on fire-forming Peterson Dasher brass; they're not making a new cartridge (just sharpening the shoulders and lengthening the case). I'll call it for any new competition brass "seasoning it" at least once before you start banging on it.
Also DJs Brass Service can hydro-form Lapua 6BR brass to Dasher and turn necks for cases and anneal etc

If you read the article in full, they are actually not focused on reforming a cartridge from a parent to to a new cartridge / caliber. They are actually addressing methodology of preserving the case life of a designed cartridge in its designed chamber, And the other benefits that come from the process..
 
The only thing I might add is I always see the f class dashers shoot a 30” barrel with a straight contour. I don’t know what your weight is of the other components so I would check beforehand jumping into the straight contour.

Going heavy varmint, not straight contour.
 
Look up user name Carlsbad and send him your bolt to have the pin turned down and bushed to .062". It's pretty much mandatory for a Dasher on a REM 700 to keep from blanking primers. 28"-32" barrel. The modified HV/Speedy contour 1" muzzle is a really nice weight. 7.5" is nice and versatile.
