Interesting, at least to me.

So, I thought the 105F temperature was the cause that I kept missing the target at 100 yards. Well, it wasn't. I kept missing because the bullets were sliding on the Magnetospeed bayonet.

Now the question. The beginning of the bayonet is right under the muzzle. So the bullets dropped about ¼" as soon as they exited?? Is that possible?

Forum Boss: If you have a tapered barrel the Magnetospeed rod will point upwards slightly relative to the bore axis.

I've seen Magnetospeed bullet strikes more than I care to admit over the years running our discipline. Sorry if you've heard this before but that's what the square metal bar is for that comes with the MS. You lay it on top and line the top of it up with the bottom of the crown and it'll stay there thanks to the magnet while you figure out what spacer to use. That helps ensure proper alignment and prevent bullet strikes and optimize its ability to pick up the bullet as it flies over.

Don't rely on visual. Either use a cleaning rod, or the supplied square rod.

But no... bullets don't immediately drop at the muzzle. Only way the bayo gets hit is if it's set up in the bullet path, or loose enuf the "bounce" when firing.
I need to politely disagree.
Gravity is a constant and causes anything and everything to fall that is not being supported.
Nanoseconds to clear the bayo yes, little time to drop, probably only thousandths, but drop it will in relation to the bore.

Thank you all.

I did use a spacer & the strap was not loose.

One head scratcher (at least for me) are the spiral lines. That part of bayonet is right under the muzzle (well maybe about one inch in front of the muzzle).

I need to order a new bayonet as this one is damaged due to the friction heat. It started measuring about 4K fps and now the display shows "no connected bayonet)

* Maybe* 1 / 1000th of an inch.

Your point, technically true, is obtuse and hyperbolic. It's very very very unlikely to be the problem.

We're trying to help the OP., here. Not conduct esoteric debates.

Not at all esoteric. Just a fundamental that should not be mis-stated.
Just drop the first sentence of your "explanation" and you will be golden. :)
Gravity will always be gravity.

Ok, 1) He needs to use the spacer and this would not have happened.
2) the bullet does not immediately start to drop. The barrel is not level it actually points slightly upward to go from below the line of sight to the point on the target even with the line of sight.

Edit. Gravity does immediately pull on the bullet but the angle on departure nullifies any immediate effect.
But let’s stick with point number one and the solution to his problem.

@TAJ45 ... totally esoteric. Not at all the actual problem here. So not worth discussing. And *def* didnt drop 1/4 " the OP indicated..

As I had mentioned before I did use a spacer. And this is not my first rodeo with the MS.
What puzzles me are spiral lines at the beginning of the MS.
