I’m sure it’s a PT&G reamer and I’m not exactly sure on the freebore.
It’s set up for the 80gr bullets so I’m sure it has plenty of freebore.

I have a 22BR I put together. It’s on a Rem 700 SA with a Krieger 7.5 twist in a heavy Palma. It shoots very well. It’s a .272 neck and I use a 6BR bushing die with the bushing changed to what I need.
8208 XBR and Sierra 77gr TMK bullets work great in this rifle.

272 neck? Positive?

No and that’s not right, it is a no turn but it’s not a .272. It’s not my reamer but I’d say it’s a .252.
I use a .249 bushing.

I think so. I know the 95 matchking has a higher bc and will have less recoil than most of the prs cartridges used today. The key will be making them hold up to the RPMs needed.

I got my sizing die off a buddy, it’s a Redding. I’m using a Hornady 22cal seating die. I used a PTG reamer cut for Lapua brass with a 0.254 Neck and .049 FB. Works great with 80.5 Berger’s.

I just scored 1K of Berger 90 LR BT's. Plan on trying them in a 30" 1-7" barrel I had spun up for my Panda based FTR gun. Plan on using it as a cheaper to shoot trainer in the off season. Will be interesting to see which powders work the best. A buddy had great luck with Varget, but I've got N140, N150, and H4895 to try as well.

I would like some advice on building a 22 BR to shoot 75-90 bullets. I have a trued R700 and it seems to me that a new 7tw barrel woul be a fairly simple conversion.
Anyone have experience with this cartridge using the heavier bullets? How hard is it to obtain dies?Thanks

90gr vlds and the like will require a 1:6.5tw. For a 1:7tw you will need to step down to a shorter/lighter projectile. Any Berger less than the 90gr VLD will work at the velocities you should see out of the 22BR. Accuracy will be outstanding with any quality bullet. Dies might be an issue because the 22BR is somewhat unique. No reason you can't have your gunsmith make a neck sizer and seater. For the body/neck die I would send a couple fireformed cases to one of the people who advertise making the die from FF brass.

For heavier bullets you will want to look at VV140 and other powders in that range. I had a lot of IMR4320 at one time and used it exclusively in a 22BR with a 1:8tw barrel and 73gr Berger BTs. It was a tack driver. The fun part was I could shoot 40gr Noslers and Bergers at 4000+ fps with a compressed load of H4895. I shot a woodchuck with the Nosler BT at 200 yards. Felt like a water balloon when I stepped on it. I also used some Speer 50gr TNTs. I could push them fast enough with H4895 that on occasion they would blow up before they hit the target. When they didn't blow up mid air that bullet would disembowel a woodchuck. IMHO, the 22BR is the greatest varmint round ever invented. I was fortunate to meet and become friends with the man who designed it and won many BR matches with it, Jim Stekl. He later came up with a 22BR short (by 0.200"). I shot that for a while too. Unbelievable accuracy with a 52gr bullet out of a 1:14tw barrel.

This same barrel was a .223 before rechambering, and it stabilized the 90's just fine. I'm pretty confident it will do well with a bit more powder behind it.

At what distance were you shooting? Typically if you are at or near the limits of the system you may shoot well out to 2-300 yards but beyond that things change and not for the better. In addition, your barrel may be slightly quicker than1:7tw, so that is good but still in that range where small changes in a number of conditions can make it less stable.
