AutoTrickler V4

With Beta units are you guys able to review and post on here after you have had time to test them? or did you have to sign something and only provide feedback to Adam?

My thought is that implicit in being a tester is an understanding that you would not share your criticisms with the public, but instead share them with the manufacturer so that he can make any adjustments needed. Accordingly, I won’t be posting my feedback unless Adam says it is OK.

Given that Adam has already begun shipping v4 units, and has posted a tentative shipping schedule based upon when orders were received... my assessment is that there really isn't any sort of beta currently taking place - or that the beta has already been completed, probably with just a handful of folks.

The whole point of a beta test is to float up bugs and issues before one green lights production. It would seem we are well past that point.

The only units he has shipped are Betas.

We built 34 on the first run and my expectation is that these are mechanically final.

We're building parts for the next batch now which will ship Oct 1. That's enough time to get ahead on all the small things. Finish the app, write instructions, order the right size boxes, etc. From that point on we should be on a weekly shipping schedule making completely finished products.

What I need feedback on now are the parameters that control how fast and accurately it runs. The beta testers are going to use a variety of powders in a variety of situations and tweak those numbers to try and get it to be fast and reliable. Whatever those numbers end up at will be set remotely through a software update.

Going forward the app will always have control over those numbers. So we can update them, and give the user control over them in certain ways. For example a big "speed" slider is the obvious idea. It could also be "select your powder kernel size" or "set your accuracy tolerance". Whatever is needed. But I'm hoping that a simple "slow / medium / fast" choice will be sufficient.

I think a review of the beta prior to October 1 is fair as long as we're not judging speed and accuracy without also explaining that it's based on parameters that can be changed in the menu that are not optimized yet.

I look forward to hearing what you think of the design.

I like to keep track of where things are in the process and stay organized. lol
If you see the notes all around my reloading room you'd laugh. Tough feeding 17 rifle in 13 different cartridges without loosing track.

Thanks! Hoping a Beta tester provides info on N570 as that has been the tough one for my V3 and using that this hunting season.

I don’t have any N570. The biggest I have is Retumbo and 8133. I can see if anyone in my local PRS group has some I can test with though.

N570 works. It's big, and I had to open up the area the hopper interfaces with the housing for it. A kernel is worth about 0.12 grains so it's not sub-kernel accurate of course but the idea is with calibration it flows quickly to get close and then slowly drops one at a time until it's over by average half a kernel. That and fine ball powders are on the extreme ends so choosing parameters that work with both covers everything.
