30-06 Hunting Bullet Choice

The gold dots are bonded for 100% weight retention, barricade penetration. Probably won't do much more than mild mushrooming on deer. Could be a good elk bullet.

The comments and pictures on MidwayUSA's page for this bullet seem different than your assessment: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1019830544?pid=755121

Can anyone comment on how the Speer Gold Dots and the Federal Fusion bullets differ....other than slight differences in how their profiles were designed (well, at least that's what the Speer tech said when I called them about this bullet) ? That tech told me these Gold Dots are excellent for deer.

If anyone has first hand experiences with the Gold Dots on deer, I'd sure like to hear about it.

I am just going by Speer's marketing description of their product. Not advertised as a hunting bullet, doesn't mean the bullet would fail just perform differently.

165gr Speer Hot Cor Spitzer
165gr Nosler Accubond
FC brass
Fed 210 M
IMR 4350 @ 56.0
It’s been a great load for years for me.
But I limit my shots to 400 yards with my trusty 06.
Anything longer my 300 Win Mag is used.
Also 55.0 of IMR 4350 with 180 Nosler Part.

Gold dots very good especially in 5.56
Fusion not as good

150gr Barnes TTSX, but have only 100 of these,,, Most excellent bullet! . Blue Collar Reloading had some of these in the last few days.

I know this bullet isn't in the OPs list, but I've had good luck on about five or so mule deer shooting Hornady 180gr SST bullets on top of a load of IMR-4064.
