Hybrids are a lot easier to tune and keep in tune. VLD's are picky.

I got one of the last boxes of 500. Their OoS again. I want Hybrids, but what’s a shooter to do in these times.

Do the VLD’s typically do better, at or in the lands, without doing a seating test ?

When I see some available, Hybrids or vld's at a fair price I order 2-3. I could order 500 or 1000....but being old, I still have a sense of fairness...I'll leave some for the next guy who might need 100 or 200 to make a match. Alot of the gouging is coming from the guy's who buy 2,3 thousand and put them on GB or Facebook or whatever at outrageous prices...and yes, the guys who pay those prices, perpetuate the problem... rsbhunter

I did a BTO study of variation by comparator of Berger 70 VLDs vs. 69 SMKs vs. 68gr Hornady BTHPs

Berger 70 VLDs - 0.006

69 SMKs - 0.004

68gr Hornady BTHPs - 0.004

Hope that's helpful info. I was surprised the Bergers showed the greatest variation.

Yes, that is good info to have...I guess I have become to critical in my older years....I'm surprised that the Sierra's are tighter tolerance than the Bergers, but as stated earlier, as long as the base is at the same placement in the case, in shouldn't affect the load, if the bto is .004-.008 off. I guess its that I compare that to seating depth, if my loads seating depth varied that much, I'd be doing some serious investigating !!!rsbhunter
