Due to Shortages Considering Air Rifle

I too bought one of the CMP Daisy single pump air rifles. At 10 meters in my basement it will group inexpensive pellets touching each other. The trigger on mine was pretty good when I got it; it has a little slack at first so is almost like a 2 stage trigger. Standing practice is mostly what I use it for; sitting or prone practice is more difficult because it's hard to pump while in position. Th rear aperture was really small for my old eyes so I drilled it out a bit.
Great value for $120 shipped.

Cw308, you picked a great rifle. You can have more practice time for the price of 10 rounds of CF than you can stand. Get some JSB pellets, pyramidair.com has " put 4 in the cart and get charged for 3." pricing. In my opinion the other pellets are a waste of money. I have dozens of tins of other brands that are going towards casting bullets.

Enjoy, but not until you clean the snot that they put in the barrel for corrosion protection completely. It'll shoot ok for sometime without needing a second cleaning but that first one is a must.

To begin with, I drilled my sight out, threaded it, then installed a Merit "Master-Disc". Last winter I decided to go to a scope and purchased a Hawke Vantage 2-7x32AO (designed for a springer air rifle). They sell on Amazon right now for $109. I am pretty impressed with the glass for that price.

I have Feinwerkbau 300s rifle and m80 pistol. Did cange seals and springs to both last summer, now both have again 30 years happy shooting.
Personally Ithink that these are best spring operated pellet guns.

My Daystate Wolverine 2. Ridiculously accurate. Single hole all day long at 10M and shoots as well as my custom .22's at 50 yds on a calm day. Mostly shoot metallic silhouette with it. GREAT practice tool.

Sadly I missed out on buying my cousins FWB just like yours. Fine rifle!

I had several M48 RWS and still have my original Diana 45...WInchester 450 177. I am not a fan of barrel cockers. I like the side lever.

I now have sold my 48's and have a Marouder 25 for pigeon shooting.

The 45 is a terror on scopes! Turns them to dust quick.

BB guns should be banned. They can put your eye out. I think Congress should waste more time on useless legislation.

I think I'm hooked on this air rifle stuff , look into a forum on air rifles , Gateway to Airguns , opens up a whole new world. I'm starting with the HW95 in .177, good entry level springer , break barrel. To give it a go I wanted a decent trigger to start with. I want to thank everyone that answered my post .

Guys , I haven't received my HW95 , it should be here on Tuesday and I'm already looking a the TX 200 Mk3. I have one Benchrest rifle for many years , barrel and trigger changes , didn't want to shoot anything else , it's a Rem. 700 in 308 love shooting it. Going to air rifle I'm already looking at another , open sights with a peep on the 95 and a scoped TX200 good excuse. That's down the road , we'll see.

The TX200 is another great rifle, but not that much difference between the two. If you like the HW enough to get another air rifle, do yourself a favor and look into a mid grade PCP. If you have any strength at all a Hill hand pump will get you started. You are already standing on the edge of the rabbit hole, either back away or just succumb and jump in. A mid range PCP will be between $500 and $1200 and will be way better than having two springer's.
Depends on how far you want to shoot, .22 will get you easily to 75, while .25 or .30 will get you to 100.

There is a lot of merit to what @PigButtons said. I started down the Air Rifle rabbit hole 8 years ago and have bought and sold around 25 Springers and PCPs since then. I have only kept 5 rifles and 2 pistols. The one springer I kept is a HW 98. The other 4 are mid to high end PCPs. Now I’m going down another rabbit hole:)

I’ve had a HW 95 and a TX 200, both fine rifles and can’t go wrong with either. Have either tuned by a good Airgun Smith and you’ll have an even better shooting rifle. Also, Gateway to Airguns is an excellent air gun forum. Tons of good info there for a beginner and people there are as good as they are here.

What should be clear by now is that Air Rifles are just as addictive as accurate CF rifles, with almost as many flavors, ammo issues, aftermarket parts, competitions, and expenses. But if you're like me you will spend a lot of money figuring all of that our for yourself, and enjoy every minute.

Remington Vantage 177 air rifle & Beeman P17 177 pistol. Since April 2020.
Back in the 1970, shot competition with air pistol.

If you can get shotshells might I suggest skeet or trap shooting.... It's all I have been doing since this mess...

A shooting buddy of mine broke out a break barrel pellet rifle at our indoor range . I started looking into air rifles , is a whole new world. Same as reloading , pellets have different weights , sizes and shapes . I just ordered a HW95 in .177 , is a good substitute until things get back to normal. You can buy a air rifle from $ 150 to $ 2000. Spring powered or Co2 , I'm starting out with a springer. Anyone out there into air rifles?
don't do it

I bought my FWB 300S in 99% condition from a local pawn shop before they could look everything up in 30 seconds on the Interwebs for $179. Don't be hatin' on me.

My knock-around scoped springer is my good ol' Beeman R7 (Weihrauch 24).

Just keep looking at FWB 300. It is just greaat rifle to shoot. And you still get all parts what you usually need: seals, springs etc.
My rifle was bought by my dad some 1984. You van imagine how many shots I have shot with it. And quality, it took almost 40 years to wear those seals out :D
